Unhappy Primate was kept as pet; officer reportedly killed it as it opened car door

Not the first time this guy has been involved with the police but certainly the last, how sad for HIM...and right or wrong I can only imagine the grief of his "humans".

Quote:
STAMFORD, Conn. - A 200-pound chimpanzee kept as a pet and once used in commercials was shot and killed by police Monday after it mauled a woman visiting its owner and later cornered an officer in his cruiser, authorities said.
***At the time of the 2003 incident, police said the Herolds told them the chimpanzee was toilet trained, dressed himself, took his own bath, ate at the table and drank wine from a stemmed glass. He also brushed his teeth using a Water Pik, logged onto the computer to look at pictures, and watched television using the remote control, police said.

People with animals like this should be required to carry tranquilizer guns . She stabbed it repeatedly ? Real smart . A wounded animal is much more dangerous .

If you cannot keep an animal in a suitable habitat most of the time, you shouldn't have it. Running free in a house with humans is not a suitable habitat for a chimp.

Forbidden 3 House Bans Pet Primates after Chimp Attack

House Bans Pet Primates after Chimp Attack
2/26/09
Quote:
NEW YORK -- One week after Travis, a 200-pound pet chimpanzee, viciously mauled his owner's friend, the House of Representatives passed a ban on the transport of monkeys and apes across state lines.
The move is designed to limit pet ownership of primates, which legislators and zoologists alike say are wild animals, not fit to be kept in homes.
House lawmakers passed the Captive Primate Act 323-to-95 on Tuesday; the bill will now go to the Senate.

It is sad that it takes a tragedy for Americans to realize something as basic as this. and that it also takes the Government to enact a law to protect us from our own stupidity, and that of others.

Common sense and responsibility are the two things lacking in our country IMO. But I do agree with you

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

What do they expect all these CRE, CRSt and Swift drivers to do if they cannot cross state lines?

-Doesn't seem fair to me.
