Respectfully,I have no time for sensationalize TV on such topics.
I'm very well connected with several of the "real-time" players in the game.
I raise/breed Boa Constrictors as a hobby,therefore I'm well involved
with like minded professionals in the $17 Billion Dollar a year industry
encompassing the import/export/buying/selling of Reptiles all over the world.

Take into consideration the hundreds of thousands of US Citizen's
and the literal millions of captive "reptile pets".
Focus on the "fact" the geographical area in question is the isolated lower third of a single State in the USA.(see attachment)

Factor in the rare instance due to keeper negligence or natural catastrophe the "chance" of human contact with one of these elusive/reclusive creatures is virtually "nill".
As for the large constrictors in question, note the extremely dense, isolated, inaccessible area known as the Everglades.(attachment)

The "climate" North of that area will not support these animals, being cold blooded by species they have to thermo regulate(heat up/cool down)
Failure to do so results in respiratory issues similar to pneumonia resulting
in fatality if untreated. In nature its "random selection" in captivity its human error.Nature does not allow for Veterinary Care.

So my question to the Mr/Mrs Jone(s) living north of I-10 in the other 47 States(notice the 250 mile buffer before reaching I-10)

The "estimated" numbers of Burmese/Reticulated pythons was 150K!
The more realistic numbers suggest 40K comprised of animals well under 3 meters in length(9 feet) which is supported by reports from local Fish/Wildlife Authorities.(not some clown in a NY newsroom with a "retired" authority)

WHERE IS THE THREAT ?(the large map is the scale, the small one references the area of "FEAR" to the Citizens of the US.)

Once again I refer you to my previous post, they are there, they do get loose whatever the means and they are a danger to people and animals...thats the plain and simple truth.

It seems I have rattled your cage for some reason, didnt mean to......as I said when I FIRST posted to this thread..it only takes a few to spoil things for an entire group.

Your perspective and opinion is still based on fabricated sensationalized media.
Your version of simple truth is,Ideologically based legislation designed to exploit fear and misunderstanding in order to pass federal law to ban the import, purchase, sale, trade and breeding of many, many reptiles.

Nearly 2/3rds of the "REAL STORY" and issues in the State of Florida
aren't not being made public, thats just the politics side your seeing on Animal Planet and CNN.

Actually CNN's view has been changed since we(USARK)
went head to head with the Government and totally DESTROYED their
position on this matter.Read that again, WE DESTROYED THEM!
You want "simple truth"? We(USARK) handed them more TRUTH they ever wanted to hear.

FIFTY THOUSAND hand written/hand delivered letters was an offensive move they couldn't ignore. Our Lobbyist OWNED the show.

Rightfully so,we came with FACT's that destroyed the smoke screen the media attempted to feed the "public". Steve Irwin would have been proud of such an offensive PUSH and dominating defense.
If he were still alive he would be on the front lines defending the very postion. Animal Planets position would most certainly be different.

Occupational Hazard and Public Safety

There are two types of risk associated with livestock management - occupational risk and public safety. These are completely separate issues. In the case of the Reptile Industry, occupational risk is the risk posed to those individuals who work with and around reptiles (not the innocent public). Public safety risk is that posed to the general public outside of the reptile keeper’s facility.

Unusually large specimens of the five largest snake species, venomous snakes and crocodilians do present a moderate occupational risk to their keepers. However, by any objective measure, the risk is no greater than that associated with other traditional livestock or pets. In recent years the Animal Rights (AR) Movement has waged an aggressive and sensational campaign to paint this occupational risk as an eminent threat to public safety. This is a false claim, confusing occupational hazard and public safety.

The devastating loss to the US Economy when all the supporting
business's that depend on the "reptile/pet trade" for their lively hoods.
Large scale Rat,Mice and Rabbit breeding facilities that have been in business over 20 years will loose, the cage suppliers, thermostat and other electrical accessory producers that provide support for local zoo's,rescue centers, rehab centers will all suffer an unjust demise at the hands of the Government and uninformed public.

Industry business's that have thrived and paved the way for many kids
to attend colleges, business that offer training thru their facilities to said students all loose because the "Chicken Little" bell is being rung.

You want the real story on this research USARK
You want the real reason this is being pushed forward, research the Florida State Corruption involving the Sugar Companies and the devastation their industry has caused to the wetlands of Florida.
