I have seen, and been told that short haired dogs are actually worse for shedding than longer haired dogs in the same environment. The reason for this being that short coats replinish so much quicker as they shed. I don't know if this is the real reason, but even with my furminator brush I can take several inches off Cookie's coat, sweep the truck out completely, and a couple hours later I have hair floating around again.

I agree with the furminator. I actually own two, one for the truck, one for the house. With my golden with his double coat, this thing has saved my sanity. I have brushed out plenty of cocker spaniels out of his fur
