I cannot believe this.

I just had to have my Bobbin, my dear sweet loving Bobbin put to sleep.

She all of a sudden out of nowhere started having seizures and even the vet could not get control of them.

That's terrible. I'm very sorry for your loss. You did the right thing though. My cat Bobo I put it off another day or two for a wait and see, and I had to watch him die. It still haunts me.

When it comes to my animals, that was the toughest, most soul-wrenching decision I have ever had to make. Even worse that letting go of Thomas. Thomas lived to 17; she was only 6.

She was fine this morning. She was fine. And then she had seizures. Grand Mal seizures. 4 of them in less than 2 hours..

It all came down her quality of life. And it was gone. She would have to live on medication the rest of her life, and there would always be break-through seizures.

And after the last one, she didn't know who I was. She didn't recognize me until just before they put her to sleep.

Between seizures she was herself. Her sweet loving self. That made it harder. She was herself when they put her down.

I'm gonna miss my baby girl like all Hell.

My husky had them a few months back.

He went into a seizure and then went into the Grand Mal.

He came out on the way to the vet. We had him on Phenobarbital for about a month.

We removed him and he has been fine.

I know with humans, they can enter and continue the series. We have medications available to stop the cycle. I know they can for dogs. But if there is a great series, then quality of life must be considered.

I know how hard it is to lose a pet. We lost our 16 year old cat Monday. She had a stroke and was so weak. Before getting out of the house to the vet she had passed.

I buried her last night.

Unfortunately, they couldn't get the cycle to break. She had her final seizure 20 minutes AFTER they gave her the medication to stop the previous one! They also gave her enough sedative to knock an elephant on it's butt, and she was still siezing.

I think I am still in shock. My heart just refuses to believe what my mind is telling me. I keep turning around expecting to see my little shadow, and she's not there. She's just not there...

I wanted to do all the testing. I wanted to find out WHAT caused this. But in the end, does it really matter? She was seizing uncontrollably, with what should have been more than sufficient medication to control it.

The vet was all for testing to find out what was happening. But it kept getting worse, FAST. It all just happened so damn fast. She's gone, and we have no real answers. DAMN IT! This is just WRONG!

In the end, there were no real choices. Either live with something that was making her miserable, and pray we could gain the upper hand, or let her go. I make the ONLY decision I could make that was truly FOR HER.

I'll admit, I am confused, and hurt and ANGRY! And I do not even know WHO or WHAT I am angry at!

I know it is hard. If the doctor had pushed the meds and nothing was happening, there was a major problem.

The hardest choice you make is the right choice here.
