We bought the dog many years ago in 07 when we were not nearly as broke as we are now, we had a job, and we were pulling in 4k a month easy. He was worth and is worth every damn penny. He has saved my life at least ONCE possibly 3 times. Time one the person had a knife and intended to harm me, the dog chased him into my car and kept him there till the cops came. The reason we bought him is because I was being stalked and threatened. My previous service dog was trained only for my disability this one is trained in my disability and several other things.

The other two times strange people came toward me, and he went nuts which is not usual for him. Usually he is a calm dog, and doesn't really care about strangers so when he takes offense to someone theres good reason. Those people ran off so I will never know what the issue was. =) I love the dog.

Far more useful then the cops turned out to be.

Yea that winch bar hurts when it smacks you in the head or the jaw, or it slips and you hit the ground in a hurry.

6 months with a trainer? I only spent 6 weeks with a trainer. My company has a pet policy. For $500.00 I'm allowed to bring my cat onboard. They took it out of my pay at the rate of $50.00 a week so it didn't hurt to badly and it was worth it. That way I know that if my truck is in the shop, I won't get busted when they see cat food and a cat box and check the computer and see that I'm not authorized to have a pet onboard. That could get ugly.

I think Ted will calm down when he gets in your truck and spends a lot of time traveling with you and sees that you're not going to abandon him. My cat has been traveling with me for 7 years and knows just about everything I say to her. We have our routine, and she knows when I get out of the truck that I'll be back. I have a "cat stroller" I put her in and take her with me if I have to. She tolerates it but doesn't really like it. Most stores will let you in with a pet stroller. I even took her into a restaurant once and they didn't mind.

Maybe if you put Ted in the truck with the door open and stand outside and talk to him and let him bark himself out and see that it's too far down to the ground for him to jump without hurting himself, he'll settle down. Then he won't make any mad dashes as soon as you open the door.

Good luck to you and Ted.

Ted is sure a cute lil guy lol.

Every time Ted barks, tell him no. The first moment he begins to bark again, put Ted on his back rub him all over. Don't just roll him over, but actually put him on his back and hold him there until you see an actual change in his attitude.

Even better start watching every episode of Ceasar Millan you can find on TV. That guy truly is "The Dog Whisperer"
