| Pets in a truck good mourning to all: now recently i made a post about pets in a truck and although most aparently undertood what i was talking about i did get a rather strong return about what i had to say about pets and thumpers in general now this lady and i use the term loosly went on a rant about me and what i do and even got into the fact that my spelling was bad well id like to reply to this expert driver. first of all i started this business at the age of 14 now at 14 you dont have much of an education in perticular in those days now if that maks me a bad pereson so be it ill be bad and take it to the bank every week as far as her nor believing that i had what i said i had well believe what you will lady but i can tell you this , ive got more time in reverse then you have going forward and i have forgot more about a truck then you will ever know. as far as what i said about animals in a truck or thumpers for that matter it was a fact they do a lot of damage to a truck and as far as my cigerets well one trhing about it you will never have to smell them i only hire drivers not rambos male or femal and as far as my opinion it is my opinion it is mine and i am entiteled to that is my right dont get mad at me because of your lack of common sense. i really think your making a feeble attemp at being a rambo i think we have more then enough of them and i pay no attention to them i just leave them in the right lane i got to go. i do not do the rambo thing and i dont play with those that do the peoiple i run with dont bash other drivers for any reason all it does is show your intellagence but if thats the way you want to be that is also yor right , am i going to get mad and insult you for that , i doubt it just not my thing just move to the right and do the best you can i got to go. if i ruffeld your feathers a little to much i do apoligise , somtimes the truth hurts. to all have a safe ride------southernpride |

| A properly trained companion can be the best company you have on a truck. My other half and I have Jack Russell Terriers. He has mine, the one in my avatar, on the truck with him right now, and I have his, the puppy I bought him for his birthday, at home. I am in the process of training her so she can ride the truck with him. |

| I had my 2 pugs on my truck when I was an owner operator. I really enjoyed having them with me. They are 9 and 5. I miss them terribly now that I work for a different company and a no pet policy. Most companies are doing away with pets not because of the damage to trucks, but because you have to idle your truck in the heat and cold for the pets. Not for you, but for your pets. At the high cost of fuel a year ago, most companies eliminated pets in company trucks altogether. They haven't changed their minds on it yet either! Hooray for pets in trucks! I miss my babies terribly!

| ps... I smoke too. I dump my ashtray every other cigarette and keep a full supply of febreeze on the truck. I have seen/smelled drivers I'd turn down before I'd turn down any kind of animal, well except for a horse maybe

Whether you have pets, or not. Whether you are a smoker, or not. Let's face it, you are in this rig 24/7, it can, and WILL, get to smelling musty, sweaty, simply "lived-in",etc. I Febreze our truck constantly, and have the Febreze carpet cleaner, which I use once a week on the carpet, rugs, and upholstery. For us, I MUST do this, as we have 2 dogs on with us. They are completely trained, no "accidents" in the truck, but dogs just have, well, odors, no matter what. Judi Kay

| I have my best buddy Dinky in my truck. I use febreeze regulary. I also light scented candles at night while stopped. I go out two weeks at a time. I bath Dinky every time we are home and wash all linens regularly. If your a slob without a dog you will be a slob with one. I am a neat freak and take alot of pride in my truck being clean. |

| I am looking at the feasability of taking my cat along with me on the road. I have read quite a few threads, but none of them answer the question of how you keep your pet comfortable if need to leave the truck (like going into a terminal/shipper, eating in a restaurant, breakdowns, etc). I could understand things like cracking a window in certain climates. What do you do in hot or cold places? I guess my biggest fear is a breakdown in hot weather. How do you deal with it? Thanks! |

| Keep alot of Water in your Cooler in the Summer and alot of Blankets in the Winter. I've never been a fan of animals in trucks so thats best I could advise. |
