Yes, she IS quite the conversation-starter! Kids laugh at her, women coo over her, guys don't know WHAT to make of her, but just about EVERYBODY adores her!!

I figured as much. I have a Lhasa Poo that has crystal blue eyes and the stubby legs of a basset hound. People don't know what to say about her either. But she gets a lot of comments.

Sorry Nana.I really didn't want her as I was going to get another Chow but the granddaughter didn't have time for her and asked if we take her.Now I wouldn't trade her off.

My "big and bad" Golden Retriever got bit by a Chihuahua, after the owner of the ankle biter chastised me to keep my "dangerous" dog away from his precious beast.

This just proves what I have always known, small dogs are much more aggressive than big dogs, and more prone to biting someone.

You laugh but the other dog's owner tried to sue us for my Butch ending his dog's "stud fees". *nods lots*

We lived in a small town and people just laughed and laughed at his big ol stud dog being whooped by my little boy.

This does not surprise me. Little dogs are always more apt to bite because they are LITTLE and that is their best line of defense.

I had one little dog, his name was Shane and he would bite the hell out of people when in my lap for no reason. I myself am not fond of little dogs as anything other then pets, they are bitey, but one good swift kick, and thats the end of a little dogs protection. They offer little utility unless you hunt or something.

My friend and I had an arguement over this, he has a jack russel mix, I have the GSD. His dog is very agressive, snarl bark snap the whole nine yards when you near his truck. My dog sits in the driver seat quietly and watchs. He was convinced I would be unable to get into his truck. Pff. Pick dog up, put dog outside truck, get in truck, close door. Win. Didn't even get bit, sure it tried to bite, but I've successfully bathed CATS and exited unscratched or bit, some little snappy dog wasn't going to land a bite on me. And even if it did it would hurt and bleed a bit not much else.

I challenaged him to get into my truck with my dog, but he didn't get far enough to get the door open more then an inch before my guys snarling scared him. Big baby. Sheesh!

As for neutering a large dog, that pom I had was that way with larger dogs. Always went right for the nads...

I have a seven year old Rottweiler named Molly and my Mother has a six year old miniature Dachshund named Little Foot (Long story!) The one thing Molly and me have in common is we have never won a argument with either one of them!

WOW It's good to see how many others love the DACHSHUND !
We lost our DASIE last year at 19 years old and got MAGGIE soon after she keeps the wife company all day while daddy is at work .....

If you have not seen the DOGS 101 Dachshund clip its good and less than 3 min long.

Maggie guarding the work room ...

That is a 14 inch gekko lizzard on the window not uncommon here in Florida.
