| It seems that more and more people are saying that the smaller breed dogs are "yappy" or barkers. This attitude drives me nuts; a dog will only do what it is allowed to do OR trained to do/not do. Yappy little dogs:This IMO is simply a myth and nothing more. Any dog can be a barker, how you train them is the answer to the entire problem. I HATE a dog that barks all the time it drives me NUTS; that being said I have FIVE miniature schnauzers that live in my house and they do NOT get all yappy! Why? Because I train them NOT to be, just like I train them to come, sit, lay down, stay and fetch. ANY dog can have bad behaviors. My dogs bark for 2 reasons....1-someone is in the house, any time a visitor shows up they bark UNTIL I tell them its ok; I trained them to be that way for a reason. 2- when we are out side playing they are allowed to bark, not the constant yappy thing either. They are allowed to make noise and get crazy BUT not to the point it is mindless. IF you ever consider adopting or even buying a smaller breed dog please do not let this myth keep you from doing so.....just like with kids its all about setting limits and teaching.

| It may be an untrue myth, but there are definitely more little dogs that yap yap yap all the time than big dogs. IMO the reason for this is simple enough. Many people that adopt smaller animals tend to spoil or baby small dogs way more often. I kinda think it is a psychological problem for some of these people, maybe they really wanted a baby, or who need something to baby. Kinda of like when women say chocolate is a replacement for sex kinda thing lol? I think basic obedience is often ignored, and these animals are allowed to get away with way more shenanigans than a larger dog ever would. Ever noticed on the Caear Millan shows where a little dog has issue. 9 times out of 10 this family has a son or daughter that's even more of a brat than the dog. To me, that's 100% reflection of the adult in the home and not the animals and children. It is the ADULTS fault, not the dogs.
