Man gets 7 years for killing dog

A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in a Calcasieu Parish prison for killing a dog with a samurai sword.

Aaron Simoneaux, of Olla, who pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to an animal in August, was sentenced Wednesday in Lake Charles.
A public defender said Simoneaux had an irrational fear of dogs and killed an acquaintance's chow last New Year's Eve because he had been attacked at age 13 by another chow. But a prosecutor said Simoneaux "carved up" the dog in an unprovoked attack.
The American Press in Lake Charles said the dog, more than 10 years old, was at a sitter's home for the night. It wandered over to Simoneaux because fireworks popping near the yard it was in scared it.

What he did to that dog was awful yes but someone who rapes a child can get less than a year? Where's the justice in that?

That's as much time as my sisters murder got in prison...and he STALKED her, then stabbed her 27 times..

But a man who was afraid of dogs, and killed one out of that fear, will spend more time in prison??

I would have gave him more time then that. Cruelty to animals is a trait shared by serial killers and other mentally disturbed people. I loath anyone who takes advantage of children, animals, and the elderly. All of whom are too weak, disadvantaged, or naive to defend themselves.

So should I serve time for the dog I ran over a couple weeks ago? How about the squirrel & skunk I ran over last night? And the 2 deer I hit last year?

By doing that people say that I'm cruel to animals.

Also that dog that was killed with the sword... Wasn't he trespassing? He wasn't wanted on the dudes property...

I'll also publicly announce that I shot & killed 5 of my neighbors dogs. I did it intentionally while they were on my property. They weren't wanted on my property... The neighbor was warned to kennel or chain them by me & the Sheriff's Dept.... He choose to do nothing & allowed the scavengers to come tip over my trash, chase my chickens, & frighten my children.
