Not always true bron, my dog would never walk toward a stranger even one calling him. He would ignore you as if you didn't exist and continue about his business.

roadmedic, I am not sure you got my entire post. As far as I am concerned shooting first is a dumb policy and is the exact reason guns get banned. It leads to all kinds of issues. Just imagine if that dog was a sick kid's pet, or a sick kid's pet whose dad was a lawmaker? If it wasn't -doing- anything, it shouldn't be shot. Attacking livestock is doing something, and I'd being the animal rescuer I am will shoot any animal harassing my livestock.

I am however, a firm believer in calling AC after I catch the animal regardless of if it has tags. Bailing the beast out of jail for a bit of moola will get the point to keep them confined and off my property... unless of course I was good friends with the neighbor or recognized the dog lol.

The ONE time I let a dog get away with killing three of our chickens it was because I -knew- the dog, and the owner. This was the first time the dog had ever escaped, and the lady and her husband were very nice people and the dog was their 3 kids dog. So I photoed him in the coop, then took him back over there with the photo. They where happy to pay me 50.00 a chicken, and that dog never was on my property again.

They built him a 8 foot tall chainlink kennel, that dog was only like 2' tall heh...

Had a 3-legged dog (cancer amputee) that would clear a 6 ft fence.
Have a dog now that can do it as well, he would rather poop in neighbor's yard than ours.........LOL

I have a dog with a record.

He wears tags. But if he loses them, it is no problem. The city police and the county animal control know the dog and our numbers.

He has been unable to get out for over 2 months now. He wears a chain with a block of wood on it in the small yard. He is let loose to run in the small yard while supervised.

Otherwise, he is chained up when we are gone. He climbs fences. Digs under them.

had nieghbors to where my horses were that liked shooting bottle rockets at my mare (she spoked real easily), so me and the landowner had some beers and CO2 powered pellet guns......they stoped doing that after the second one found its mark

...
a couple years ago, the same nieghbors dog kiled 26 chickens and 4 turkeys, in 3 seperate events

dog went to the pound each time, owners bailed it out and awaited the court date......by the time the date came they had bailed the dog out once more, and the third event had happened, AC put the dog down.

they also advised me to use .22short ammo as its subsonic, next time to save them the hassle of getting the same dog multiple times

that dogs owner still owes me for the killed fowl, and now has a rottie that likes my fenceline........i hope he stays out cuz he's and awesome dog, but i will shoot if need be

I will defend my propety, stock and family

Mine is a husky.

I will never own another one.

The shepherds, you can leave the gate open. They will not leave. We could let them run in the acre we have fenced and rarely would they leave. Sometimes, but very rare.

The husky. Any way he can get out.

A pet that got loose in my neighborhood (a rottie) trapped me between my garage and my car for no reason. Just turned around and there he was growling at me. That is the only dog I ever shot that wasn't on my property. I chased him down and shot him down the street. I've had strays try to bite me while cutting the grass and my son was bit by a stray while I was deployed a couple of years ago and came within 24 hours of having to start rabies shots before they found him. Since then I have declared a jihad on dogs in my neighborhood. If they come on my property, they will be shot on site. People around here just let them run wild and I've seen them roaming in packs at night. I will not let a dangerous situation like that exist around my kid.

My dogs are only vicious if someone like you enters my property. They do not know you so they might attack. The reason, is my wife is home alone and they are protecting her and most likely their food source.

However, when loose or with us, they are docile. You will spend a big risk of being licked to death.

Husky's are known wanderers they need an obscene amount of exercise to keep them stimulated enough to forgo that roaming instinct.
