| Cat survives swallowing inch-long needle Quote: A GUILDFORD cat survived swallowing an inch-long needle after being successfully operated on by vets from Pet Doctors. Its owner, Eva Burdova, of Adison Road, was sewing up a jumper one evening and left the needle and thread out overnight. The next morning, to her horror, she noticed they were missing. And even though Pixie, her young, white tortoiseshell cat, seemed normal, Ms Burdova could not find any trace of the needle, so took her to Pet Doctors in Guildford to have her checked over. Vet Charlotte Dawson said: “When we X-rayed Pixie we found the needle lodged in her small intestine, close to her stomach. “We had to open up her abdomen and intestine which is a difficult procedure as it risks causing infection and stitching up also can cause strictures in the intestines. "We were very careful and managed to remove the needle safely.
