Sky City Travel Center - Acoma, NM
Just wanted to say that the showers at the Sky City Travel Center in Acoma, NM are some of the nicest I've seen. Roomy, clean and just all around nice. Plan on using them whenever I can.

and why would that be?

It is clean, quiet, and as a woman driving alone I feel safe there, unlike the J in Albuquerque.

Probably on the list at some companies because of the Casino. Can't have drivers having any fun during their breaks -- they'd rather see them sit around bored in dirty truck stops than at a nice one with some decent food choices, nice showers and a little entertainment. Maybe they're afraid their drivers will hit the jackpot and won't need them and their attitudes anymore. Just a thought. But this is one place I don't mind getting 'stuck' and as Sabine said, it's clean, quiet and much safer than many of the truck stop alternatives.

Just giving you the run down, as I know it. Covenant & SRT consider it to be a high risk for cargo theft. Of course that could well be caused by a broke driver who just blew an entire months pay there.

This same list contains the Pilot in Birmingham, AL. Would you like to discuss the "safe" atmosphere of that place?

Still my favorite is the flying J blackriver falls WI.

I pretty sure its not on the list.

I used to work for Covenant - who owns (or at least used to own) a controlling interest in SRT.

A dispatcher I knew well enough to trust confided to me that Sky City wasn't really a high security risk. They were just tired of their drivers stopping there and staying too long, then delivering their load late.

Typical of Covenant to solve the problem that way rather than just making a firm request of their drivers to limit the stopover to a set time like 90 minutes....
