Oh, Texas is not in the "mid east." Such blasphemy!
Terry is right except that it also includes a shrimp cocktail. Some pro wrestler ate 2 one night. A friend of mine got close but lost it about 10 bites from finishing.

Don't know of your steak offer but things like that have been offered.
Many years ago (55-59) Thrashers Truck Stop in Selmer, TN had a sign on the wall and on the menu: Truckers Breakfast - One doz eggs, 1 pound bacon or sausage, one loaf of bread toasted and ?? coffee. Eat it all and it will be free. Stopped there regualrly but never tried the deal.

A buddy and I did take on an all you can eat catfish for $3.50 during that time. Bonnie's Truck Stop at Sandersville, MS, right out of Laurel,MS. We both were enroute to New Orleans for bananas and stopped there for supper. Ordered the fish, eat it up, waitress asked if you guys want more. My buddy had hollow legs and a good appetite. He said: Yeah, some more and nice size please. That started it. We ate, she brought more, we ate.
Finally left and on to New Orleans. Came back through the next day, stopped for lunch, and there was a clean place on the wall where the sign had been.

It is now $72. I was just up there about 1-2 months ago and called them about it from my truck at the TA there. Passed on it for the time being.

Not next time I go through there!!!

Bosselman's at Salina, KS (& three other Bosselman's locations) has Grandma Max's restaurant in it. They serve a Grandma Max's Big Max jumbo burger that is 4 pounds & if you eat it in a hour you get a t-shirt & picture on the wall.

I-70 Effingham stops

I was just giving directions, from Google Maps, for a truck stop on I70 W around Casey IL and told him to take Exit 159, 160, or 162 Effingham. Well, he said he was at mp 147 Marshall, then 129 for Casey and so the numbers were going down. Finally (after a challenge of who/what was at fault)we figured out that I57 S connects up with 170 and the mp numbers change.

I am sure a lot of you drivers out there know of this and that there are probably better programs out there that just might mention why you'd be looking for a truck stop at a higher number when you are supposed to be getting lower numbers.

FYI As far I have seen(on Google maps), there aren't anymore truck stops til Troy on I70 W. Oh, & Troy is about 80 miles down the road!

The only place that has truck parking at the Casey exit (129) is the Hardee's. It has a pretty good sized rough dirt lot. Marshall (exit 147) has a fuel stop with no parking, a McDonald's with a huge concrete lot, & a Burger King with a paved lot that might hold a dozen or so trucks. There's also a brand new Super WalMart just to the south but I don't know about parking.
