2xR,
You didn't stop at the Southern Comfort for the "recreation" did ya??
I have never been in there , it always looked busy though. I hear them on the CB advertising their steaks or something like that .

I have lived in Ga my whole life. And as long as i can remember the TA and Southern comfort had way to many local low lifes around. Its sad that some truckstops and the surounding area'sv go down hill so bad, i have traveled on the road with an X, and all the TA's that i saw and went to were nasty, and not a place i liked to stop at.

I know what you mean about the Travel America Truckstps aka TA's, I prefer to call them Trash America Truckstops. When my husband and I first started driving together I had 2 1/2 yrs solo and he had 1 1/2 yrs solo. He rather liked the TA's, I personaly prefered the Petro or Pilot to them. I have teamed with him now for 6 years and have changed his way of thinking. We once eat at the buffet in the TA and the brown gravy for the mashed potatoes smelled just like canned Alpo dog food. Since that day I refuse to eat from the TA's, I would rather go hungry! Trash America is the best name I could come up with for them, with all the lot lizzards and trashy people hanging out in them. Not to mention the nasty showers that I swear are not cleaned at all, and the restrooms that smell nasty. My belief is if it smells nasty, it's got to be nasty! They should have shut the doors on those places a long time ago. I sure hope the Petro's do not adapt to TA's way of doing things, since TA bought them out.

And to think, Petro is now owned by TA.

TA in Atlanta was closed becuase it was on leased property... The owner refused to allow TA to resign the lease.. They even offered more money but owner still refused.....

TA trashy in general? well I would disagree with that... sure there are trashy TA's but there are trashy Pilots, loves ext....

If there is not a Petro, Little America ext.. around then I would choose a TA over a Pilot, loves ext... any day... Why? becuase I consider Pilots and such a anti social truckstop.. They just want your money and other then that go sit in your truck they don't want you around... At least a TA has something to do inside such as a TV room/game room.. A place you can socialize a little instead of sitting in that truck I just spent 14 hours in...

Working girls
I prefer to refer to these girls as such.. Other names is just not called for in my opinion.. might not agree with what they do but they are people too.

As a truck driver I have only had them knock on my door 1 time while I was in the sleeper.. The pilot in Birmingham... I have had them walk over to me while i was sitting in driver seat and I simply shake my head saying no and they move on... Beggars on the other hand are way more persistent and annoying....

Is the Blue Beacon that was next to the TA closed, too? I used to stop there every once in a while. Definitely not the greatest area, but pretty much all the truckstops inside the 285 perimeter are garbage. I'll stick to the Pilots on the outskirts for my fueling needs.

Amen to that, if I had to stop near the ATL, I'd do it in Cartersville. Even if it is too damn far away, all those ATL truckstops are nasty!

I remember that place, and all I can think is Finally, someone shuts it down! The TA in Franklin TN isn't so great either! The health dept ever checks on it, and they will be shut down!

Used to stop at Cartersville all the time. Usually, them and the Dalton Pilots are the cheapest in the state.
