I do think I remember a chapel in a trailer in the lot, not sure if it was there or not.

That T/A in Jessup was a sh--hole as far back as I can remember. If I had to stop along 95 in that area I went to the old 76 truck stop at Elkton. It wasn't great but it was better than Jessup.

Reggie was there before the trailer was there . Management gave him 2 rooms in the basement , one to sleep in , one for his chapel . He was usually there 24/7 and lived on donations . He was a former driver that had medical problems disqualify him .

This is Eagle ones wife. I just recieved a call from Eagle One at TA in Dayton, Ohio. I know he's just learning the ropes and where things are, but this place sounds just as bad. These people are hateful, rude and just plain aweful. First he tried to find out where the washers/dryers were so he could get clean clothes. He had his clothes in the dryer an hour and theyre still soaked. Mind you, being new with no paycheck yet, money is really tight. He also wanted to take a shower at the cost of $10.00 and when he asked what to do, they said "I supposed you want a shower now hugh?" He said yes, I was thinking about it. They said " Well, dont even think about it, you aint getting one". Get that! My husbands not a fighter, and I dont think he should have to fight for a sticking $10.00 shower. So he said if they wont let him take one, he'll have to wash from the sink. So dont think he's homeless because of it. I tell you what, for the way they make money off truckers, you'd think they'd have a better attitude. Am I wrong? I hope they all aint the same way.

No , they ain't all the same . Some are worse . But most truckstops give free showers if you buy $50 worth of fuel . Have him get a Fying J card , Pilot Driver Payback card or T/A RoadMiles card . You swipe these when you fuel and they will store shower credits for 5 days . I've been in several Pilot's where no showers were available simply because employees were too lazy to clean them . When I said something about it to to Nick , the 3rd shift cashier who said he was in charge at the Pilot on exit 36 on I-5 in Ohio he told me to hit the road if I didn't like it . I've never had to wait for a shower at the Pilots at exit 28 on I-71 in KY but they aren't very clean . One only has a barstool for a seat - not even a lid on the toilet . As for dryers at truckstops - you're better off hanging a clothesline on your truck .

AH...Mrs.Eagle One...it appears you are leaving out a lot of info here.

Where is your husbands trainer?

Did the trainer not bother to educate him on the finer aspects of trucking such as shower procedures?

Its simple, really. Always try to shower where you fuel...it's free. I realize this is not always possible the same day but generally the shower credits loaded on your points card are good for at least a week and can be used later at any TA, Petro, Pilot, Loves etc.

I have never encountered a rude truck stop clerk. It may be that my reputation preceeds me. There is nothing I like better than to grab some rude little jerk and listen to them scream for mercy while I pound the tar out of them.

Have your husband try it. When diplomacy is not working, violence is the answer.

My favorite manuever is to grab the clerk by the hair and slam their face on the counter breaking their nose in the process. Then I inform them besides the shower I will require a little respect. Its no crime to whack a surly truck stop employee.

Water Hot4 Showers

Trainer was alseep in the cab. I guess he didnt tell him, until he finally woke him up and asked. But he finally did get his shower. I appreciate the advice everyones giving. I told him about how sometimes they have a waiting line and you have to wait for your name to be called, and passed on the info about the cards. I dont know a whole lot about none of this stuff yet, just like him, learning as we go. But violence doesnt get you anywhere except jailtime. Ever hear of assault & battery? It doesnt matter what the reason. I know theres a very fine line these days between sticking up for yourself and assault. Especially in todays society where everythings so darn politically correct and you have step around everyones feelings, its sick. But life goes on and we do the best that we can. Its times like these that test us to see what character were'r made of. Thank you everyone for your support and I hope that I dont over do it on asking for advice. If I do, let me know.
Sincerely, Eagle One's Wife

Flying J has the best setup for showers . There is a place to swipe your card , then the PA announces when showers are ready .

I had two favorites when I drove full time, one was Jerry's Travel Center (used to be Union 76) in Manning SC, ex 119 on I-95, and the other was a T/A in Kenly, NC exit 106 on I-95. They had the best food & friendliest service(I'll always remember the large black bear in the entrance). Showers always clean & available. Are either of these still in exsistence?
