You could just by a side of beef from a farmer, or buy the whole cow and sell a side to a friend/family member. I'm really not sure how you guys can eat that crap they sell at Walmart and other stores. Get a deep freezer and buy in bulk--you'll save money and have much better beef that puts even the steak houses to shame.

In terms of things being left on the shelf longer than they should, there was a story in the Washington Post newspaper about five years ago where Food Lion was changing the wrapping of old meat and putting on a new plastic wrap and new expiration date. I asked a friend who works with Bi-Lo as a meat department attendant and he said, Yep ... that's done sometimes.

Also, about two years ago I was at an Exxon near the Maryland State Fairgrounds getting gas and then I got a Hershey's chocolate bar. I opened it and it had parts that were white and started to fall away as I was undoing the wrapper. I asked someone about that and she said the bar was old and you should not have eaten it.

the chocolate hadn't been tempered properly and was discoloring due to heating up and cooling down.

Hey you must be the driver I see on all fours and raising his leg to wash the tires.

We got 30 some cases of these for free from Hills when she was a puppy 10 years ago. They haven't killed her yet. She still crawls on top of me every night and gets more covers than I do. She has such a rough life.

Isn't whistleblower termination illegal? I think you're entitled to litigation. Maybe you should also tell the FDA or some health inspectors.

Constantly I would find expired items sometimes in the amount
of 100 pieces of product and was told to not pull the items anymore by the General Manager because it reflected that the Merchandise manger was doing a poor job and it reflected that he was doing a poor job.
I spoke up about it at a meeting and contacted corporate office of the infringements against the consumers and nothing was done although the woman I spoke with a short time ago had said that such would be Investigated, the next day I was fired with a lie.

I've probably meet many of you running routes to North Carolina and to Florida. Its a shame that I would have to bring this to your ears as if just how you receive service sometimes isnt bad enough that what you might purchase at the location i worked for could make you sick.

Im sorry guys that my fight to ensure that you would receive legitamite good's was a short lived one, It was to the point that i would have to tell customers that an item they had brought to me in trust was expired, tHAT TO WAS also something I was told that I never should do. But in all those situations where expired items were broguth to me and I noticed and alerted the customer they were appreciative and most went and found a legitamite date. It wasnt like alerting you created a diminish in a sale, its unfortunate that I worked under sorry people who are still there and who still allow and or avertantly choose not to notice expired items, Im alerting you of this matter because it was severe enough that they were afraid to the point that they lied to terminate me. If you need to know which location I worked at if you pm me I will tell you the location in privacy as there are many good people there who are trying to ensure you receive a great experience, it is primarily the upper echelon that has failed at this facility in doing so, most of them have illegitamite people skills and no common sense, providing the reason why they are upper echelons at that facilty.

thank you for your time, if you have a question just ask.

So you're saying the Health Department needs to visit the Flying J near Commerce,Georgia? Is this near where they made Deliverance? Maybe they don't pay no mind to them fancy stickers?

Why did you feel the need to stick your neck out when an anonymous call should've done the job? Are they still selling "Chinese" food?

Well I see the thread is kind of old but sorry you losed your job doing the right thing..

I always check my milk ext.. and expiration dates on almost all the items i buy..
Many many many times I go digging threw them so I can find one that is not expired... And boy did I get funny looks from employees... I could care less what they thank.. That date is there for a reason.. I always told the cashier on when buying whatever they had expired milk ext.. I know they probably did not do anything but I still told them..

Sorry to burst any bubbles BUT
"best before" date is just that. It does not mean that the milk or whatever will turn sour at midnight.
Just means it is at optimum freshness before that date.
That being said, I always check dates and would NOT buy something "old"
