A Hidden Gem - the Hi-Lo Cafe!

If you are in northern California, up near Weed or Yreka, I found a great place to eat and highly recommend it. I got into Weed, CA at about 3am Saturday morning and had to wait until 9am to load out. I was hoping to find a good place to have breakfast after I climbed out of the bunk. As I idled down the Business Route 5 (between exits 747 and 748 - South Weed Boulevard) I saw the Hi-Lo Cafe and parked in front and caught a few hours sleep. At 6am I went into the cafe...what a clean and friendly place (friendly to me even though my truck filled the front windows of the cafe)!

The people were great, the service was great (the waitress said "Go get your thermos and we'll fill 'er up for you - no charge"), and the food was first class. I had an omelet made with homemade Italian sausage in it and handmade English muffins, with homemade hashbrowns and coffee (real coffee) for $11 (a bargain for good food). Parking is not easy, but the people, service, and food of the Hi-Lo Cafe make it more than worth the effort.
