| Ever been to these two "truck stops"? There are two places that I find parked enough tractor trailers that I think it's a truck stop there but when I looked further that was not the case. They are next to the Hardee's and Pizza Hut in Kent Island, Maryland in Queen Anne's County and next to the Burlington Coat Factory store in Gaithersburg, Maryland in Montgomery County. It seems to me that there is overnight parking going on and not just a stop for a quick bite and then get back on the road. So, where do they shower? Where do they do their laundry? Since there is no Idleaire installation nearby, where do they get their entertainment? Thanks. |

| I know the places on Kent Island. I avoid Montgomery county though. Too rich and white collar... Anyway, it may have been that the truckers are renting parking there. There is a liquor store near here that rents parking to trucks for about $50 a month.

| Two non traditional truck stops ... Quote:
Those places on Kent Island, Queen Anne's County, Maryland seem to me to be not parking places for truckers that live near by but truckers that park their rigs while traveling through Route 50 to or from the Delmarva region. Sorry about being too rich and too white collar for Montgomery County, Maryland. I was born at Georgetown University hospital, DC and raised in Montgomery County. That's where I live now. There is a move afoot to get commercial vehicles, etc. to be banned from residential side streets throughout the entire county. That's already the case in Montgomery Village but other places want to follow suit. I have seen some bobtails or tractor trailers parked on state maintained roads in Montgomery Village. They are not parked right in front of houses but near them. In public testimony, the drivers say that the County Council is showing its elitist side in trying to ban their rigs. |

| I can't testify to those specific locations, but I can say that I have parked overnight at a lot of places that were "truck stops". Usually when I've done this it's either because I'm delivering nearby or in that town the next morning, or because I'd rather park there than any other actual truck stop for various reasons. Those reasons could be for my own safety or because not many drivers are aware of its existence and there's sure to be parking there even in the middle of the night.
