Health issues at the Flying J buffet ...

Good points. I have always thought that those signs that say employees must wash their hands after using the bathroom should say EVERYONE needs to wash their hands after the bathroom.

Also, I have seen signs that say you must take a clean plate when getting a second helping. I have always thought the sign should say WASH hands first and then get a second plate.

I wonder how often the tongs are changed out by the kitchen staff or the wait staff on the buffet tables.

So , I say good riddance to the buffets.

All I have been to are still there, but that may change. I've seen some that shouldn't be(you know what I mean) but the good ones are good just like the bad ones are bad. Johnson's corners dosn't have a buffet, but the food is good and reasonable. be there tuesday nite
got denver for friday. trucks in shop for clutch(not my fault) so see ya out there!

Look how many times have you seen go to the bathroom and not wash their hands then go to the buffet.

Buffets may be a good place for germs to spread, but i have ate often them many times and never worried about getting sick. how many times do you think those employees wash their hands as well as they should?

lol I hear ya both. Just bare in mind I'm a trucker and sometimes exaggerate and BS an awful lot. Too true though, I have no idea nor do I have any control over food servers not washing their hands. This is the primary reason I carry pocket size hand sanitizer around not only to protect me but also to get rid of the potential germs I got to give out to the rest of ya'll too.

Not good.

Does anyone know why?

Thanks.
Aww, crud!!! If this is true, then hubby is S-C-R-E-W-E-D!!! His company fuels and does business EXCLUSIVELY with the J.
The showers and service have become bad enough....NOW, they are taking away one of the FEW things a working driver can afford???!!!!????!!!!

I say...SHAME ON YOU FLYING J!!!!!!!! :bigg rin_25510::biggrin_2 5510:

I was at the Flying J in Clear Brook, Virginia (Exit 323, Interstate 81) just north of Winchester, Virginia this past weekend. About 2:45 AM, I was walking by and saw a driver being told that the Restuarant was closed.

So, I waited until I thought the coast was clear and then returned about 6:00 am. The cafeteria was open and when I saw that the waitress had a free moment, I asked her about the closure I had witnessed a few hours ago.

She said that three quarters of the Flying J restuarants are now closed from 1 am to 5 am. That went into effect on March 15, 2008.

Doughnut Might be related to CA lawsuits against restaurants

A while back, there was this lawsuit in California against McDonalds and a number of fastfood restaurants. Notice when you shop for canned goods, it has the nutrition label on the side, stating how much saturated fat and cholesterol there is in each serving ?? The lawyers argued that these nutritional value info apply to restaurants as well, and because their clients were not aware the food they were eating was high in fat in cholesterol, they had gained too much weight. The judge and jury agreed with this argument, which is why when you dine in a restaurant in CA, if you ask, most will have info available on calorie, fat, and cholesterol info on their menu items.

Like most businesses, when a service or product is not selling enough to justify a reasonable profit, you remove that from your service. Its likely the lack of business and the possible lawsuit of some trucker suing FJ for the same legal argument in CA, compelled FJ to get rid of the buffet table.
