Yeah theres still some out there but far and few between. Saddly the ta's, pilots, and petro's are buying them out and ruining the good food and service that the family owned ones provided. Its sad but big business is where its at I guess.

The one's we do find make a note of them and post them up for everyone.
We need to patronize the "mom and pops" to keep them going.

Well the only one I can think of right now is on US-23 in Michigan exit 1 great food, family owned. Only downside is the bathrooms werent the greatest kinda dirty when I stopped through but the food was awesome and fairly priced.

Oh and two others in Minnesota I-94 exit 233 the Amish market family owned, and also I-94 exit 266 also family owned and both have good food.

Free if you purchase fuel otherwise its usually ten dollars. Nice thing is the rewards card the shower will stay on pilots I think for 4 days or something. But I think the TA ones will stay on there for quite a while. Ive had two on my ta card for the last 3 weeks and they are still there. I usually try to shower at the terminal or when I fuel though.

They're still out there. Best bet is off the big road, and onto the U.S. Highways. The old adage used to be 'follow a trucker to the good food', now it's all friggin Subway, Wendy's, etc

Thumbs up

I-95 Exit 180 in Maine. Dysarts

Good place to stop, fuel, restaurant (wont go away hungry), service with kenworth and volvo dealers right across the road, freightliner service just down the road. Basically a mini Flying J with a better diner/restaurant.

Stop there whenever I am in town

I use several that are privately owned. Some for the food, some for the showers, most of them have decent lots for taking my break so I won`t tell where they are.
Do yourself a favor and spend money in the ones you like. Most drivers eat out of their truck now and the independant stops are feeling it.Please spend your money so I don`t have to eat at a Pilot.
