Pilot Travel Centers recently opened a new location in Atalissa, IA, on Interstate 80 at Exit 265.
The new Pilot will include 60 truck parking spots with for drivers wanting to take their 10-hour breaks. There is no time limit on how long trucks can park there. The new travel center has 11 diesel islands, two restaurants, showers and a CAT scale, as well as other amenities.
“We believe our familiar Pilot sign will be a welcome sight for professional drivers,” wrote Vincent Barrett, general manager for the Atalissa location, in a press release.
Pilot, headquartered in Knoxville, TN, has more than 300 locations in 41 states and in Canada.

Did they build that brand new, or did they just buy out the truckstop that was there/ near there?

They bought out the stop that was there. Ex265. Also took over another location at ex201 on I80. North side of the interstate. There goes the neighborhood!

Interesting, would be nice to see more sit down places in Pilots, even if Denny's food isn't the healthiest... I was sad to hear they took over the crazy D's in Plymouth,IN (just east of town)- that lot was a hole (with some HUGE potholes) but the food was cheap and decent.

Denny's moved into the ol' mom and pop restaurant that was at the Pilot (formerly a William's) at exit 34 on I-69 in Indiana. That's happened sometime in the past year. I used to use that stop quite often for a shower and good meal. So much for the good meal now that it's a Denny's.

Well may-be not the best, but it sure beats the heck out of McD's, Subway or burnt Chester's yard bird... Hey wonder if Pilot is changing the way they think??? Nah that won't happen...

I don't mind Denny's, really. The things is, as I told my g/f just last night when I saw that Denny's in the place of the mom and pop place that used to be there, that I'm tired of all these giant corporations and all that comes with them. While I'm all for a free market and feel that's the way it should be, I'm tired of being forced to be just another number instead of the old days when people were actually appreciated and received quality service.
