TA - Morris, IL (BIG PRAISE!)

Last night (11-24-0 I had picked up a load down the street. It was a temp. sensitive load.

Reguardless of who's fault it actually was, it's the classic case of security and yard spotters not checking the reefer tank to make sure there was fuel in it before being loaded.

I had hooked up to my pre-loaded trailer realizing that the reefer had been starved for fuel.

After 20 minutes on the phone finding the correct procedure to make sure our rear ends are covered, and the lack of response or concern from Shipping on the CB, I headed down to the newly converted TA in Morris, IL.

To make a long story short, I was able to put 1/2 tank into the reefer (this isn't a fuel stop for us). For some reason the computer system was PMS'ing and wouldn't allow us to charge it. The manager tried everything within his power, including calling TA Corporate to see what could be done.

Knowing my situation, he walked with me over to the shop, which was locked up, and the last 2 guys were getting ready to leave. A younger mechanic (early 20s) said he could help me, and had me pull up alongside the building and helped me get the reefer bled by blowing air up in the breather tube.

The reefer fired up, and told me it would be no charge. Of course to reward this guy, I flipped him a $20 and told him thanks for staying over. He could have easily said ... blank Off.

Upon getting an EFS check to pay for my fuel, I thanked the manager and threw him a $5. He went above the call of duty to help me.

This proves that in the truckstop world that there are still places that care, and won't gouge you when they see your in a vulnerable situation.

Thank you Morris, IL TA!

I just hope the office manager wasnt offended by the $5 when the mechanic (about my age.. 26, maybe younger) got a $20 and was told to take his girlfriend out to dinner.. But just using his air hose to bleed the lines was MUCH easier than ... takin the filter off.. screwin around with the primer.. etc.. and it was cold.. I don't like the cold.

Badcompany, yeah, I've ate in there before too, after eatin when I went to pay my bill I told the waitress to NEVER.. EVER.. let TA come in there and screw it up.

That was a great story. And like the other posters have said, glad you did your part to make the next driver's time easier. I used to stop there all the time, and really happy to hear that TA did not mess with the restaurant.
