I love Denny's but hate IHOP. Dennies is getting old too. How about Natures table. They do have good food for a good price.

Texas-Nana guess you haven't eaten at the J's in Bakersfield,Lodi, and Ripon. These three are in Calif. Their food will eitheir make give you the Cali two step or taste like fuel. At least thats been my experince.

Good eating, and I don't leave the table feeling stuffed and bloated. I think we drivers wanting healthy options were finally starting to get through to the people creating the menus. IMO, it'll be a shame to lose that.

How is it possible that I've never found a J where the food even came close to your descriptions of them?

There must be a whole nuther set of Js that I wasn't able to find using their little locater book. Ones where the cook actually had a clue.

Either that or I've got really messed up food tastes (i don't think so), because all the J food I've ever tried tasted like cardboard.
I'm happy if you are satisfied with them. I NEVER was.

I'm still holding out hope for Hooters to win their food contract. For the hot wings, of course. Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Yes I only go to Hooters for the wings as well... and I'm not really a truck driver either, I'm Bill Gates

That's why I'm not happy about Pilot messing with the J restaurants.
Excellent point.

If the salad bar at the Country Market restuarants of Flying J goes away ... then it would be difficult or impossible for some people to find healthy choices to eat and then in the future affect their health and ability to stay on the road. Less drivers, less customers in the restuarants, less profits.

So, I am keeping my fingers crossed that the corporate decision makers at Flying J when changing the dynamics of the restuarant situation after March 2010, I hope they will keep the salad bar even if they get rid of the buffet line.

I've been hearing the Denny's IHOP rumour for a while. At the same time (and from the same people) I heard Pilot will close half of the sit down restaurants entirely. No Denny's. No IHOP. No nothing. Any word on that?

Thanks for the intell...I've been wondering what was going to happen to the Flying J restaurants. I heard the IHOP and Dennys rumors too...also heard they're just rumors and the bulk of the J restaurants will be shuttered. Anyone have any hard facts?

That's a concern. On the theory that Pilot will try to drive a square peg into a round hole and make Flying J into a "mini-me" of their first business, then, yea ... it may come down to a "fuel and forget" scenario.

Have you fueled?

Yes ...

When then we are going to FORGET you and now MOVE on down the road !!!!
