And you guys know what I am talking about, most drivers yo smell before you see, and then when you see 'em, you see their version of proper attire is a pair sweat pants, grease, and god only what else stained T-Shirt, and flip flops.
No ones gonna respect somone who doesnt respect theirself.
sounds just like an east European to me...
I´ve only worked long term for two companies.. both required to use the company uniform and personal hygiene ..well thats selfexplanatory ain´t it?

My husband just started with Smith Transport and they tell them in orientation - your driving our truck, representing Smith, they don't want any complaints about profanity, dirty trucks, or sloppy drivers.

Hopefully I will be joining the profession, barring a meltdown in school. But I'm a young guy. Reading all this crap about a trucker's image is just sick. I may have a lead foot, and I will probably talk some smack. It will be for humor reasons only, not to point fingers and make racial jokes. But as far as the truck stops and keeping the truck clean, there are some really stupid ignorant moronic lazy people out there. I want to hear people tell me how nice my truck looks. I'll be sure and keep it clean and be curtious to the fellow driver.

Anyway, my point is this...There are more good and decent truckers out there than bad but it seems to me the bad ones have stuck out like a sore thumb and have given them all a bad name. I find it totally unfair. Just my two cents and I hope that one day the public will see that we have so many hard working, moral and ethical drivers out there that need to be appreciated and set apart from the bad ones.
wow, he must drive for UPS

I don't know where you plan on washing the truck all the time. Most companies, you are lucky to get them pay for 1 wash per month. Most of the down time you will have will be at the docks. These have very little water hookups. A dirty truck does not mean a lazy trucker. I would rather spend the time and money on myself food and showers. You don't always spend the night at a truckstop where you bought fuel.

Exactly. When I bought my first truck, I also bought a power-washer to save money instead of paying a truck-wash. After possibly the 20th time I washed it, I found there was better use of my time while at home. And "LAZY" I am not.

My S/O just asked me on the phone last night to come here and post for him. He was talking about all of the WalMarts that would no longer let truckers stay in their lots because of the mess they created. He is a very conciencious driver about trash and neatness and was a little annnoyed that some drivers aren't. When I came to this thread I saw it had already been discussed, but I told him I would, so I am. As usual there are a few that are going to ruin it for the many. My S/O told me that some WalMarts had even gone to the trouble to paint white lines for spaces just for truckers to park. I guess he appreciates it, others don't.

I appreciate those WalMarts as well. But they are getting fewer and farther in between. Mostly because some old lady steps into some unknown stuff thrown out by some unknown person in an unknown profession. HOWEVER: this is a picture I took at a WalMart in Knoxville earlier this summer, even though it wasn't "on the ground", the driver took off after shopping leaving "it" on his catwalk to fall off "somewhere".

Even at the truck stops, cant count almost every single stop where I would walk through the Idle Air to shower or whatever and smell the aroma of freshly dumped (or not so freshly) urine jugs over the lot on those hot summer days... Cant imagine using a urine jug... let alone re using it..

That picture resembles a Freightliner....and it's Maroon....but that only makes me think of Maverick, the flatbed company-where this guy's hauling a box
