Noticed something this morning at Wal-Mart.

I got put on cart roundup this morning before my shift was over at 6:30AM. I was rounding up the shopping carts left near where the customer truck parking was located and noticed several things.

1. No urine bottles - not even any tossed over the fence into the drainage retention pond next to the lot.
2. No urine stink
3. Not an idling truck in the lot (though there was one Volvo VN with his running lights on and truck off, perhaps he was using a Cummins ICON). It was a balmy 52f this morning, nice open window/cool breeze weather.

Maybe we have a better class of trucker running the roads around here nowadays, I dunno. But it was nice to see that the drivers who were parked there this morning weren't causing the typical problems that get trucks banned from overnight parking in the first place. Not to mention they were abiding by Wal-Marts no-idling policy. Good show!

Re: Noticed something this morning at Wal-Mart.

i've parked at many wal-marts (not for a long periods of time) and found that some of them are hard to get in to. One thing to look for is 'wal mart truck' signs. Follow these and if you can't park in the 'front' of the store, just follow the signs and park on the 'side' of the building or rear. If you aren't there for a 'long' time, they usually won't say anything.

my .2 cents

Our Customer Truck parking lot is on the north side of the building, though trucks can park on the south side as well. That's where the Wal-Mart drivers typically park since they drop their trailers on that side of the store. Our security guard won't bother unless a vehicle is parked for more than 24 hours. The guards write down license plates and company names (as well as plates for RV's) and if they're still there 24 hours later, the company is called and/or the vehicle is towed. Basically don't take your 34 hour reset at our parked at store.

Re: Noticed something this morning at Wal-Mart.

Most of the newer Wally Worlds are putting obstacles in the parking lot. A couple I have seen here in GA have huge rocks on the corners so you can't make the turns.

It can make it pretty difficult to even make the deliveries the way they're trying to keep trucks out now.
