Angry Wash Your Hands... Geez

One of my biggest pet peeves while OTR was to go to the ladies rooms and then later to the restaurant and to see the same ladies that were in the bathroom when I was in there and they DID NOT wash their hands but they were all over that buffet shoveling food on their plates. That's nasty, inconsiderate, and just down right filthy. THAT'S why I cannot eat at a buffet.

Wash your hands... You aren't only protecting others from germs but YOURSELF as well... So at least have some respect for YOURSELF if you can't for anyone else.

I've been told by male truckers they have seen this same thing in the men's room then straight to the buffet.

Yeh people should wash there hands. I always see people walk right out, thats why I use the papertowel to open the door after washing.

Re: Wash You Hands... Geez

yep, same here. i was in the men's room, some guy "flushed the terlet" and walked right out, and lo-and behold, he used the buffet as well. i stopped using the buffet because of this as well.

how someone can use any bathroom fixture and not wash afterwards is beyond me.

I always have that waterless hand sanitizer with me. It's great, easy to use, and I use it whenever I spend a lot of time in public places. Flu season is coming up, better get some.

The list of diseases that can be passed on by this "I don't give a damn" attitude is incredible and I'll go to one which I've had and I promise you it ain't pleasant and that is Bacterial or Viral Meningitis - I've posted a thread on it asking how much at risk a driver is - it almost killed me within 24hrs of the first symptons - like I had the flu. Personal sanitation is a must in our line of work - no two ways about it!

Re: Wash You Hands... Geez

Some observations: At the T/A (cartersville,GA) saw a kid (about 8 yrs old) putting food on her plate (at buffet, where else), trying it, and putting back whatever she didn't like. I will never eat a buffet again, unless I watch the cooks set it up.
A guy used said terlet, washed his hands (no soap, just water) and then wiped his hands clean on his filthy #&$ jeans! And then straight to the buffet.

Well...if ya really wanna think on it....

Haveyou ever noticed, the amount of restrooms that have a door with a knob.....that EVEN IF you wash your hands, you get all those little germies when ya turn the knob to go out ???
So, I wash my hands, dry them with the paper towel, then use the paper towel to open the door. If the trash can is close I drop it in there, if not....I try to make the basket. YOu'd think that restaraunts would have a better idea about the abatement of germ transfer....sheeeesh

Ohh..and about those Buffets.....

I ate at the Texaco truckstop at the 617 exit in Texas...I think thats the exit...I ate potatoe soup off the buffet....
I spent 4 days of my life trying to stay alive in the Terrell TX hospital...from severe food poisoning....
Needless to say...I WILL NEVER EAT OFF A BUFFET AGAIN.
And....at fast food places....if you want to ensure your food is cooked fresh.....order it without the sauce, or some part of it that you'd think they would put on pre made ones.....I do it all the time.

I figured there were other people who do this, but have never seen any, other than myself.

The sanitation of fast food places and truck stop restuarants can be suspect as well. You've got somebody back there in the kitchen making minimum wage who doesn't really care about what he's doing.

I always try to avoid sauces and toppings, even in truck stop restuarants.
