So when the volume is very low, do u still speed, that's what I'm asking?

This is an interesting point of view that hammering down you earn more... Has anyone figured the fuel consumption which might be 25-30% more than normal (and calculated by the rate payer...) plus tires, brakes, bearings engine life shortens too?
IŽd say those going pedal to the metal do end up belly up sooner or later economically and then they blame it on the system because they canŽt do simple math.

Well since you put it that way I guess that was naive of me to say that, and driving NY, northern NJ and CT isn't all that bad. Both are stressful , just in different ways and what you have to contend with. I think I'll stick to my neighborhood.
I remember that thread, Now I'm basically flat rated, and go home every night, so in a way, time vs dollar, the quicker I get done the better. I can't hammer down all day, a lot of my miles are on secondary roads. but when I can and all is right, I tend to. Even if it is just to beat the traffic ahead. Saving 15 - 20 minutes here by hammering, can save you a hour+ of traffic.

Oh, ok, alright all of us who don't speed, we should all start going 10 over....But then as soon as the speeders realize we're able to get away with it, then they'll go an additional 5mph, then we'll catch up to them, and a few weeks later they'll say everyone's going 85mph and no one's getting pulled over. Why not make it 90?
I was on the Autobahn back when there really was no real speed limit, and been on there fairly recent as well.. You will find very few screaming cars there, they simply drive 75-85Mph... this is a comfortable speed in cars..

As mentioned it is very ignorant to have speed differences between trucks and cars.. This creates some hostility towards trucks when they jump out to pass a slower truck. People will do almost anything to get around you because "they think you should not be in their way"...

I personally think 70Mph in most sections on all interstates is perfectly safe and 75Mph in other areas, they should raise the speed limit in areas of the Interstate that are safe to do so and lower the speed limit to 55MPH to 65MPH (changeable sign to adjust speed accordingly) for all vehicles in the city.. (I think the states that have 55MPH for trucks are a joke, safety is not a factor but revenue)

Luv I understand your point was the "large cars" and I agree.. The only thing I can think about that is livestock drivers.. the longer they stay on that truck the more chance they have in dieing.. I don't agree with the speeds some off those boys run but I will gladly move out of his way if he needs to go..

I "go with the flow"...

I'm a four-wheeler, and I tend to go with the flow of traffic. Most of my time is spent in the right-hand lane... which on interstates generally moves 5-10 mph above the posted speed.

I have no clue how I drive in Canada, other than "with the flow of traffic". I drove my Taurus with a non-functioning speedometer once... and took my Subaru, which is calibrated only in mph, the other times. (I admit to writing down some quick conversions and keeping them on the passenger seat.)

The worst stretch of roadway I've ever encountered was I-95 around Baltimore/DC. I got caught in the far left lane moving 85/90 mph and could not work my way right. And as soon as I left a few car lengths in front of me, someone moved right it. It was white knuckles all the way.

I still get all sweaty just THINKING about it! LOL
