Heart Truckers Vs 4-wheelers

Well I was # my truck today cleaning it out... now thats another story... well I get to the end of cleaning it out and I couldn't fit one thing inside the truck with all the other misc crap that I stuck inside... a 24 pack of water.......

So as a person not to waste 24 good pee-bottles (Joke) I throw it up on the roof rack brace it in the corner and put a light strap on it (couldn't see the strap tho) so I leave the yard and am just driving down the road... I come to a traffic light and I hear ... BLATTTTTTT... it's a trucker trying to get my attention pointing at me and then up I roll my window down give him a thumbs up and a wave come to another light guess what... another truck.. goes beep and points up.. give him the same... then driving down a two laner an UPS driver(coming the other direction ) looks at my car.. squints... cranes his head forward... squints again... then just as he passes me.. I hear a half hearted beep and I can see in my rear view in his mirror him pointing up.............

Mind you I drove past a couple trucks.. and dozens of cars.. got a couple interesting stares from the cars but NOT ONE point... beep or kiss my BEEP from a single car.. nor 3 walkers.. 1 jogger and a cop and more cars that didn't even notice it then I would even care to count

Way to go truckers.. KEEP IT UP... even the little things like this make me want to keep driving even if it aint gonna be with this company

I think truck drivers are more aware of their surroundings because they have more responsibility than the cell phone holding soccer moms.
Stories like this are the ones I want to hear! Thanks for sharing!

I'm not trying to make excuses, and I have to test my theory this afternoon on my way home from work... but could it be that a four-wheeler could not see what was on your roof rack? I know I sit pretty low, comparably, in my little Subaru. I have to look up to see the driver in the truck, and am not sure if I'd see what was on the roof of the cab.

I'll check...and let you know!

When I originally read this post, I assumed you were on a four lane highway, which may have been a bad assumption. Obviously, from behind I could not see it. Passing you, though, I could not see it either. I would have to have been substantially ahead of you to even catch it in my rearview mirror.

On a two lane road, though, coming toward you it would be plain as day.

Shame on my brethren four-wheelers for not attempting to alert you to it!

Yea max speed I went was 40... and just a hair more then 1/2 the bottle was showing above the roofrack.. there was no mistaking that it generally didn't belong there

I would have been trying to get you on the CB in the Buick or the Nissan, and Melva would have tried to alert you to it.
