High Beams

I know there are a few that do appreciate it, but I cannot stand arrogance, and to me that is what it is - an "I don't NEED your help" thing. Most of the time it is a few bad apples ruining it for everyone else, but seems to be the opposite in this case.
High Beams Blind - day or night. It is just bad manners to use high beams to flash. Likewise, using fog lights when there is no fog. Sometimes, one vehicle behind looks like a wall of light coming at you.

High beams only when it is safe. Fog lights in bad weather where vision is reduced.

First of all, I do have running lights so it is high beams during the day or nothing. Secondly, that sentence and your entire post contradicts itself 7 ways to Sunday. You say "never" use high beams and then "only use highbeams" in the same sentence, even. Which is it?

Not to worry, though. Like I said, I am not flashing anymore for any reason.

I am a newbie, but I have s sense of courtesy and appreciation, I always 'thank' a driver for letting me in/ove even the 4 wheelers, I have done the same as the original poster on this thread, I have counted how many other drivers 'thanked' me after flashing to let them know they could come back over, and I think in a 2 week period of being out I counted a total of 6, I was saddened (ok I was already saddened for being away from home for so long anyway).

If you have daytime running lights, it is very likely that most drivers will not see you flash your brights at them.

Something else - If the driver isn't looking in the mirror, they won't see you flashing the lights. I watch the truck's mirror for when the driver looks back if I can see, and then I flash the lights.

Often times, it is pointless when a truck is going 60 mph, and being passed by a truck doing 75. That driver doesn't need to be flashed over as he can tell pretty quickly that he is well past your truck. When a truck is doing 75, and gets passed by a truck doing 78, or a truck going 62 spends 45 minutes passing a truck going 61 (and clogging up traffic and creating a dangerous situation), then flashing the lights actually helps.

LOL. Since I am in a Roehl truck, that is usually the case! I never flash someone that whizzes past me. It is the one that is within 5-6 mph of my speed.

Yea, if I just passed you fast enough to suck you out of your lane, then you can probably save all the flashing or whatever.

Maybe they just don't know. I've passed trucks before and had them flash their lights. Someone explained to me they were telling me I could get over. But I never knew that I was to say thank you someway. So you hit the flashers to say thank you? It's lights to tell someone they are safe and flashes to say thank you?

I just do the left blinker quick then turn the right back on during the day. I hit the interrupt switch a couple of times at night.

See Keith you didn't read or understand my writings,I don't need your lights or anyones lights to pass safely or not,I do have a perfect drivers record . Please go back and read a little sense into my posting. What I was implying if you have daylight lites running and can't shut them off,and if,that is if you still feel obligated to blink your high beams, that is up to you, most of us don't like that, but then I said it would not hurt you to explain to a driver that you can't or don't know how to cancel your daytime running lights, that wasn't a contradiction,it was a fact,I just thought you could read between the lines a little common sense like, goes a long way.

The truckers world has changed drastically over the past twenty years. A whole lot of people out there who just don't care about anything or anyone but themselves. Hang in there an just appreciate those who appreciate.

Never flash until you are sure a vehicle is completely passed. Some have flashed when a tractor and one trailer went buy but did not check to see a second trailer.
