Box, he had enough of that and drove locally for 3 years and that's when he met me, we have been together for four years now and we still only go home once a month, we have found out that you can't make any money wanting to be home every weekend unless you run creative logs....LOL

As for flashing trucks, we signal by turning our lights "OFF" then back "ON" night or day, and we always signal thank you when other driver signal us over, We hate it when people use brights to flash us, and sometimes hubby gives those lights back to the other truck, man those load lights come in handy (We pull a flatbed) when we don't have a tall load...LOL
Great to see people who still care, but then I think many of the newbee's don't flash because they are taught not to in school. That has been a safety issue since I went to school in 89. However, I have always felt it was a BS issue. I still flash, but hate it when people use their bright lights in my rear view mirror. Then again, I don't drive big trucks anymore; just pickups and a 5 ton farm truck on occasion.

Talking I think so too

I think that's the reason also, and just plain no respect anymore for anyone but oneself...It's really sad, but true....

I wrote a poem some time back about Angel Eyes. Let me share it with you and everyone else here.

Angel Eyes

Copyright © 2004 by Zephyr (mds)

Angel eyes watch over my sole,
Guide my dreams where ever they go;
Keep me safe as I travel through life;
Limit my pain, suffering and strife.

Angel eyes that touch my heart,
Blessing those who’s love must part.
Giving guidance to complete my chores,
Always opening the important doors.

Angel eyes you are my sight,
Painting rainbows with colors bright.
Perfect brush strokes through the sky,
Some day, like you, I will learn to fly.

Angel eyes, you hold my dreams,
Guide my path and work my schemes;
You are the reason and the rhyme,
Blessing life through eternal time.

Angel eyes, watching over me,
I thank the Lord for blessing the;
Giving you charge as guiding light,
To color a world so beautifully bright.

Best wishes to all

Thank you Angel Eyes. Since you appreciated that one, let me share another.

Truckers Lament

Copyright © 2005, Zephyr (mds)

I disappeared long years ago;
There was no one to caress my soul.
I climbed aboard, in my old truck
A million miles behind, loves luck!

Some day you might see me,
Perhaps you will think I'm free.
But what you will not know,
I’m just lonely man, ever on the go!

From truck stop to truck stop
Each day I drive until I drop.
To sleep away my lonely life,
Without a lover or a wife!

Now, I'm not crying about my life,
Of many good friends, there is no price.
Sharing coffee and some road talk,
There is no time to sit and sulk.

So coffee up and out the door,
In my truck for 500 miles or more,
Chat on the ol’ CB with my friends.
See you somewhere, sometime, again.

Keep the dirty side down, wheels on the ground
Eyes on the road and hammer down!
Got an early appointment in Tonty Town!
It’s just another reload-turn around.

Open the doors and back to the dock,
Dispatch again, has me on the clock.
Jammer in gear, and I’m out the gate,
Off to Los Angeles, another load of freight.

Coast to coast and back a gain;
My time will end, God knows when.
Until I’m called before the roll,
It’s down the road to pay life’s toll.

From Cincinnati to New Orleans,
On to Jacksonville, then Bowling Green!
St Louis calling; Detroit, don’t be late,
Got a turn around to the Golden Gate!

The Windy City on my list
Then on to Dallas, another twist!
Turn around, and off once more.
Got a heavy date in Baltimore!

Circle City’s calling my name,
Gets a bit dizzy, this turn-around game.
To Imlay City, more pickles to go.
It’s back to LA, and don’t be slow!

Northridge has another load of beer,
Just another trip to who knows where.
Back to another dock where I unload,
All ready loaded, down life’s road.

I disappeared long years ago;
There was no one to caress my soul.
I climbed aboard, in my old truck
A million miles behind, loves luck!

Talking Lucky

Lucky,
That last one was so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes, if those are your own poems, you need to be publishing them, they are really good.....

Thanks Angeleyes. Many of my poems are published but only as singles and in different Anthologies. I never really thought about the stuff I like to write until someone said I need to publish. So I gave it a whirl and out of six entries, I was selected for an Anthology and CD Collections by the International Library of Poets.

I was just published again this year and out of thousands, I once again made the International Who's Who In Poetry and was one of 32 selected for The Sound of Poetry.

This years Poem is one that I posted in the Veterans Forum here with my Memorial Day Message.

I love to write and my poems are of many subjects; and mostly from my learnings and life's teachings.

Anyway, thanks again and they are part of my life and many others.

Here is a little Norse Mythology mixed with the day dreams of a Sailor.

Just checked and the file did not include the complete set of poems and there is a duplication. I will have to edit my files as my system was corrupted and I have been putting things back together. Hope you enjoy.

Forget the Attached Files (except 1st one for history) Here are three of the set.

The Sea is a sailors home. (Like the Highway is the home of a trucker) Love is always in his heart when he is happy; yet even with the love of the sea, part of him is empty:

Aegir's Datter

to Love, the Billow Maidens and Mermaids

I thank thee Aegir, for this prize.
Thy datter’s beauty fills my eyes!
Lips cherry sweet as summer wine,
No other Goddess could be mine!

Her beauty and her warmth I feel,
Her heart, a prize for one to steal!
Set sail in pristine-smooth water,
A gentle zephyr with Aegir's Datter

The months at sea seem like years,
Salty brine, my only tears!
Her breath a gentle breeze sets the sail,
My longing; the tempest, lighting and the gale!

Her smiling face within my heart,
This one last trip, we shall never part.
So hoist the mast and set the sail,
Into the wind, home to tell this sailors tale!

With Aegir's Datter I am so blest,
She sooths my soul and eases my stress.
Whispers enchanting she sends my way,
A billow maidens blessing; swift tide today!

I accept your gift of Love and Light,
And return it warmly to keep this night.
The sweet breath of Aegir's Datter,
Calms the seas, and stills the water.

I dream a gentle breeze in your arms,
Heavenly snuggles sweetly in your charms.
Warmth and kisses tender in the night,
Aegir's Datter, heavens sweet delight!

I set my sails on an ocean, free;
She moves this Bark across the sea.
Over the oceans salty brine,
She brings me home in her good time.

Sweet Lady of the Ocean
To Aegir’s Datter

Shall night again betray the day?
Aegir’s datter billowing under Zephyr’s play!
This day I bow to evening’s charm,
With Aegers Datter to keep me warm.

Giving birth to morning smiles,
with singing Blue birds, we sail for miles.
Nature’s gift and time to give,
Night or day blest to live.

And share our world hand in hand;
Aegirs Datter, till time turns to sand. ------

Lonely sailor on the beach,
Longing heartache just out of reach.
Heaving waves, crashing thunder,
Beyond the beach, Datter of wonder!

Sweet lady of the Ocean,
Forever, enchanting loving motion,
Carry this sailor in your arms,
Hold him gently in your charms.

Aegir’s Datter, I bow to thee,
Never set this sailor free,
Upon your bosom tender one,
Rolling onward, beyond the sun.

This Billow maiden calls to me,
Beautiful maiden of the sea!
Set this sailor’s sail to home,
With this Zephyr forever roam!

Will Night Betray the Day
To Aegirs Datter
Copyright©2006 Michael Duane Small

Will night again betray the day?
Not to worry, the sailors say.
Aegirs Datter, gentle one;
Carry this Bark beyond the sun.

Days labor tires and closes,
Giving way to evening poses.
Lover's hearts wait the night,
Speckled heavens; bright moonlight.

Aegirs Datter, warm and tender,
Caressing evenings gentle zephyr.
Day is past and night is cast,
Lovers swoon and cradle fast.

Gently rocking in loving arms,
Life's enchanting precious charms.
Sing of love and tender thoughts;
Speak softly days unspoken naughts.

Stars to please, love to tease,
Gently flowing summer seas.
Follow stars to heavens beach,
where love is all but out of reach.

Days of spender, nights of glory
Aegirs Datter, knows my story.
In her arms my life she holds,
She sings the songs of sailors bold.

So let the night steel from the day.
Aegirs Datter will show the way.
In her charms I'll sail the seas,
Her tender heart my eyes to please.

I'll sail away with Aegirs Datter.
A gentle Zephyr bound for heaven.

By Zephyr

Singing Blue Birds are not found on the ocean. They are found on the shoulders of one those in love.

The correct way to let another truck over is to turn lights off then back on ,this way you will not create aproblem with the passing driver eye sight.

no moore passing problem

The correct way to let the passing truck over is to turn your lights off,then back on .this way will allow the passing driver merge with out,cousing a blurr in his/her vision.

The reasoning behind that is, if you are really paying attention when you flash, it could cause an accident. Well, perhaps that is true in some cases, but in the majority of cases, where we flash, there is no problem and in fact, it does help add a little safety as well as professional courtesy.

I still flash, even though I don't drive the big rigs anymore. It is just habit and I think it is a good habit.

Times change and people change and it is not always for the better. Road rage, and all the crazies in the world today, you just don't know. It is better to be safe than sorry.
I was told (in 1979) in "Truck School" that Federal Regulation forbids such types of "signaling". Although I can't find the specific regulation. I don't signal nor do I acknowedge. Living as close to the Canadian Border as I do, I am irritated by the Canadians (and the US Drivers who want to be like them) who flash their high-beams, especially at night.

Why does anyone need someone to "signal" anyway?
While you look in your mirror, if you can see the ENTIRE front of the vehicle in the center 2/3 of your mirror, you are about 100 feet ahead of it, leaving about 30 feet between your rear and their front, and it is safe to change lanes.
