| o i thought you meant " flashing" not flashing lights....silly me...lol dont stop becuase the ones who didnt return the favor were either ignorant or newbies who dont know any better...got to teach them somehow...i figure the same way we teach our kids manners...by doing it ourselves i will flash my headlights when your clear to come over, and i will flash my 4-ways after i come over, regardless if you do any of the above or not, or if you care to even look for it, to me it is simple manners with safety included now back to the kind of flashing thoughts truckers like..... |

| I know what you mean too. I dunno why but it kinda feels good to get that blink blink flash flash back. I'll still do it though. Just for the old hands that know what its about.

| Thats your problem,never high beams at any time,unless,you have daylight running lights on and can't shut them off,then and only use highbeams or even better not at all. All or most of us senior drivers and ones' that are in the know figure if you use your high beams to tell us during daylight,we assume you do it at night also. I often hear a senior driver give another driver a short lecture about this procedure being done at daylite,blinking your highs up,as a matter of fact,I just came home from ok city ok,and on the way thru ohio and mo.,I heard it mentioned in daylight to three drivers,so again,if you do it at daylight,we figure you would do it at night also,I fully understand it if I see your lo beams on in a newer truck as some you have to pull the fuse to stop daylight runnning light from coming on,Personally,I pull that fuse if the company lets me.Also,I have witnessed it time and again,some owner operators with the big super trucks or attitude,will not acknowledge you giving them the lights,cause they think they are beyond you,guess what?,to me thats bull....,I have drove super trucks thru the years and have never had my ego as to not akknowlegde a courteous driver,in this case,remember this,i give him the thank you anyway,again after he doesn't aknowledge me,that is me taking it back and they know or should think I took it back if they are smart enough to figure it out. I have in the past not given the lights to jb,and swift trucks,but have changed on that,I have no respect for jb or swift company as a whole,just for the way they use drivers and don't run the higher paid drivers as much as the lesser paid drivers',this goes on at jb,I know,I have witnessed it many times over and talked to many jb senior and newbees about this,not one has ever denied that this problem dioes exist at jb. Again,its not right for me or anyone to take it out on their drivers,they are all like you and I trying to make a decent living out here and we all have had to start and learn somewhere. Like the other forum member said,keep on doing the flash light thing, if you can't shut your running lights off,and you use your high beams,and the driver says something to you negatively or they don't give you thank you lights,explain to that driver why you did use your highbeams,it only takes a minute to explain it. Just keep on keeping doing what you do,but with your low beams not your highs,if possible in that truck or car you are in. |

| One more about flashing lights ![]() I think the drivers that don't flash their lights are like several of us have said: Rude, stupid or newbies. Look at the mentality of a large majority of drivers now. Young, stupid and could really care less about anything but driving down the road like a a bunch of idiots. What happen to the days when a big rig driver actually helped people along the way and actually cared about what they were doing? Are we all in that big of a rush that we can't be courteous to our fellow drivers and even to the 4-wheelers on the road? I know that there are some really great professional drivers out there but it is a dying breed and that is really sad |

| I don't always look at the big mirror twice so I probably won't see lights in the daytime, especially if you're in a nuetured truck. I try not to look too long at night because so many like me to have those little flash dots in my eyes like when you get your picture taken. However, if I see you go off/on, I always acknowledge. |

The reasoning behind that is, if you are really paying attention when you flash, it could cause an accident. Well, perhaps that is true in some cases, but in the majority of cases, where we flash, there is no problem and in fact, it does help add a little safety as well as professional courtesy. I still flash, even though I don't drive the big rigs anymore. It is just habit and I think it is a good habit. Times change and people change and it is not always for the better. Road rage, and all the crazies in the world today, you just don't know. It is better to be safe than sorry. |
