the older carrier units were loud, but the new thermoking whispers, you can barely hear them if you are inside with the motor running.....

Stop whining, all of us need to sleep and park, and there arent usually enough spots to pick and choose, so stop being a penny-pinch and idle your motor.

Smiley 1 It can get worse...

Better a rattley old reefer unit than a truck load of livestock. I don't mind an occasional wiff of earthy farm smells, but I can't sleep in the barnyard.

My reefer is noisy, but, just like everyone else, I have to park somewhere. If I stop early enough, I will try to park away from others, but at times there is no choice.

I don't drop it and park in another spot though, I agree that is rude. We all have a job to do, and my job entails bringing refrigerated items to the customer, and that would mean cooling it at all times.

Man does that bring back some memories. I had shut down for the night in this little truckstop in TN, and wasn't idling. I had my screens in my windows, and my sleeper vents open. I was awakened (actually gagged) by the smell of "Eau Du Bovine" as a cattlehauler took the spot next to me. Between the smell and the noise they made, there was no way I'd have gotten any sleep if I hadn't pulled the screens out, closed the vents, and fired her up.

I have no problem sleeping next to a reefer whether my truck was running or not. It provides a nice background noise.

I used to sleep like a baby when I pulled a reefer, especially if I had a frozen load where the reefer ran constant.

We always try to park away from everyone else if our reefer is running but, oftentimes, they're so full you have no choice. We then try to park nose in to try to help with the noise but there's not much you can do and you cannot shut off the reefer.

If you were to see someone use two spots, though, that's definitely rude and a no-no IMHO. I'd be going to the truck stop people in a heartbeat about that one.
