My 2 cents.Any one that messes with an other mans oops and ladies truck or trailer is not a Trucker or Truck Driver They are what runs out the bottem of a Bullwagon.Years ago before CDL or Logbooks I would be so tired when I stopped you could park a straight piped Detroit ,a Reefer and a Bullwagon next to me and it would no even make me turn over must less wake me.

You are 100% right! If a truck driver doesn't have anythign to complain about, he will complain about not having anythign to complain about! We all do it, I bet EVERY driver including myself complains about at least ONE (probally more like 100) things that go wrong on the road! lol

Yup, we're all guilty. You notice I didn't even exclude myself.

I'm usually so tired with logs that I don't care who parks next to me.

We don't mind the reefers, but I'm a weenie if a load of hogs parks next to us! But, I won't complain to them. If there is an empty space to park they have a right to that space as much as anybody else. I do move though, can't stand the smell of hogs!

I've seen more drivers drop their trailer in the back row and bobtail to a front roll parking spot so they don't have to walk so far or as much. Not only do they take up 2 parking spots but they are just showing how lazy some people can actually be. The reefers don't bother me. I've mainly pulled flatbeds and I would rather pull into a back roll spot anyway just to protect my fenders.

Last night I was parked on the end of the front row at the "Trailways Truck Stop" in Centreville, MD. When I parked there were two other trucks closer to the end than me, but, they left. It was not a good place to be because if a truck or two lined up at the fuel island the passage from the back lot to the driveway became quite narrow. I was pretty sure I'd get hit during the night. About the time I was contemplating moving, the truck to my left pulled out. Yippee! I just pulled up, then backed straight into the vacant spot. I didn't even look to see who, or what, I parked next to. I was just glad to be out of harms way.

About thirty minutes after I put my head on the pillow, VRAAAP-BRRRRRRRRRRRR-HMMMMMMMM!!!! That Carrier fired up and rattled my windows. Dang, what a racket.

I remembered this very thread and laughed. I just idled up the big, green, Detroit and turned on some jams. The next thing I remember was my alarm beeping. Good night's sleep.

To me it's not the reefers and has never been the reefers. It is the guy that idles his truck all night with the engine fan kicking on every 30 seconds and then the air dryer popping off every 22 seconds, not to mention he has his windows down and it is 60 degrees out.

According to Transport Topics (4/7/0, plug in electricity as a source of reefer power when trucks are not moving is three times more efficient than diesel. Electric power is popular in Europe where it has an 80% usage rate. In the United States, electric power is used less than 5% of the time.

A Dutch trucker told me that in Europe plug-ins are necessary during ferry crossings. Truck stops have plug-ins in the front rows. Others go to the rear of the "lorry-park".

Wish the U.S. could catch up with the rest of the world. If they would even just start addressing one region at a time it would be logistically doable.

I agree....but let's face it...the T/S are owned by "BIG OIL COMPANIES", and are they going to let anything/anyone interfere with the sales of their product? NOPE Keep the truckers dependent on the diesel for reefers and cabs, while the environmentalists try to implement something better. At least, that's the way I see it...
