Reefer's at stops

Man alot of these reffer drivers have no brains. I have seen this countless times now.
Reffer driver pulls in a parking spot. The spots next to him may have other rigs in them. Now sleeping beside a reffer can suck.
So they pull in beside somebody knowing that the guy next to them will be disturbed by the thing running all night. But now here his the part that just blows my frikin mind!! They unhook from the rig from the trailer and go park somewhere eles!!!
Besides the fact they just made someone elese night misserable, now they are takeing up 2 parking spots..

Are they parking their bobtail somewhere else at the truck stop, or bobtailing somewhere like maybe to get something to eat?

I would be calling their company in a heartbeat, or at the very minimum, notifying the truck stop of what they are doing if they are simply taking up two spots.

As for the reffer running its no louder than the truck your in ideling unless you dont run your truck, but i see your point about taking 2 spots thats just plain stupid.

Now that IS BS. I used to run reefers for many years from Seattle, WA to Bronx, NY and my reefers were all pretty quiet actually. BUT, they can't turn them off at times as most shippers have recorders in the trailer now to PROVE it was consistently kept at the temp they wanted (my case was 34 degrees for Apples). But, I never unhooked from it and parked in another spot for a better sleep, LOL. A LOT of truckers are just plain rude anymore...truck stops are hell these days.

I can promise you, if I seen it happen, and I had nowhere to park, I would become rude real quick.

I used to pull a reefer...so they don't really bother me. But !!

I was at the TA in Amarrillo TX once. When a driver dropped a refridgerated container next to me that had no muffler. He bobtailed to the back row. I pulled out of my nice front row spot...and parked next to him. I actually wanted to do more than that.

Well let me start by saying all i have ever pulled was reefer and i have never dropped a trailer in a truck stop unless i was waiting on a swap from another driver and then yes i would drop that trailer and move to another spot so that i could have a spot for the trailer that i was waiting for.It had nothing to do with the noise of the trailer, sorry but i slept better knowing that my trailer was still running and the product was maintaining the proper temp.
Also I use a jumper wire to keep my batteries charged so I dont have to start my truck, but thats another subject.

I actually try to keep my idle times down to about 30% or less. Hard to do when it is hot out.
Dont get me wrong I have no problem with refers. It just makes me crazy to see them drop it just to park in another spot..

Dropping a reefer with no one around to attend to it is a very good way to come back to the reefer being shut off by another driver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially if its a very noisy one.
