Truckers' Trucking Forum/Message Board - The Premiere Truck Driver Forum

The Truckers' Image Under The Driver's Hat. Discuss ways for truckers to improve their image. Urine bottles, trashy truck stops and no truck parking signs abound. How do we change our image and earn respect back?

Use to be trucker who is young!!!

I use to drive a truck and not only an 180wheeler but also was a "Hotshot". I have around 250,000 miles comercial driving under my belt. I am in the Marine Corp now and just wish I was still running a truck right now. I think that some driver are nasty! You on here know what I am talking about when you go into a fuel stop and you just catch a whiff of the guy in front of you in line waiting for your reciept and he smells like he hasnt taken a shower in about a week. Some are nasty but then you have the nice neat and considerate drivers. I have been yelled at and had drivers complain about me all the time because I am young and I worked for Prime for a little while in my trucking carrer. But yet I was able to out drive them and also back up into anywhere better then a lot of guys who bitched about me. I just want to say about everybody does not know what it takes to drive a truck and get your CDL, and how hard of a life that it is being a profesional driver. I just want to thank all of you out there for putting up with the cocky drivers who think there the best and also the 4-wheelers out there that dont take into consideration that we are trying to make a living. I cant wait to be back out there with all of you drivers.

After you have been driving for as long as I have, you ignore alot of that stuff out there and go about your business.

I don't give a thought as to who is the best driver, I don't even care.

Iam out there to do my job, and only my job.

Yes, I can relate however to some of the truckers out there needing a shower. Sometimes you gotta just put yourself first and get cleaned up.

I find that a good hot shower makes me feel better and wakes my brain up a little and I have a much clearer attitude.

Trucking is a tough life no doubt and it ain't getting any easier either.
