I totally agree with you NightWind. As a female driver, if I expect to be treated as a professional truck driver, I should demonstrate the various qualities of any other truck driver!

You both may be right. If I were and OTR driver getting paid by the mile
I would drive at night. Most P and D drivers drive during the day
when SUV loads of women go to truck stops.

Now back to the fuel island incident. Perhaps the fuel desk had a problem getting her fuel paid for, maybe there was a line at the fuel desk and the bathroom, I don't know I wasn't there. Another thing I'm SO glad it wasn't me that you spoke to like that because you would have been at the ER getting that cheater bar removed from a place that the sun never sees.

I don't know about that last part involving the cheater bar but as for the rest of the post I definitely agree with NightWind. There are many circumstances that could be the reason for a driver taking a bit to get back to their truck, most of the time it is legitimate (Lord knows I've stood in a few long fuel lines waiting for my receipt) or the bathroom, and yes I've run into lines in those also. Sometime it's some sloth who dawdles around then finally finds the time to make it back into their truck. Oh well that's trucking life. I must have a lot more patience than you because I don't get all that bothered by the small things. What I am bothered by are people who seem to have the notion that they aren't accountable for their behavior and think they can be as rude and abusive as they feel like to another human being because they allow their ego to do the driving for their mouth. I really do believe in the Golden Rule and you were just ugly. You demand respect from other people? You need to earn it. I would not have put up with any one, man or woman or Martian talking to me the way you spoke to that woman. I hope the people who may have seen you behave like that don't let it color their perception of how truck drivers are in general.

Hello Everyone,
Sorry this is my first post. I have been a member for a week or so now. I am just trying to learn everything I can before I start trucking.
I have enjoyed reading these post and have learned quite a bit. Hopefully I will be trucking by next Aug.
This is the first post that I have felt I needed to say somthing. Or should I say it put me in DI Mode. Yes, I was a DI, an 03(grunt) and in recon, and now I am retired. This poster acted like a complete idiot. I am embarrassed this poster was a service member and possibly a Marine. This poster wants to talk about equality when he is the one that shot his mouth off and started cursing at her for somthing she should not have done. Was she right, maybe not, but it doesn't give him the right to curse her out and call her names. I promise you he would not have done that to me, or probably many other male drivers. Makes me wander what he taught his recruits. The way he treated that driver was unacceptable. Male or female.
I'll bet he thinks its cool or okay to hit a woman also.
This guy was 100% wrong.

I'm a firm believer in smackin' 'em around a time or two.
Why, when I get home each night, I step thru the door & announce that "The beatings will now begin."

Sometimes I don't even now why I'm smacking her...but...I bet she does.
