I would think that you should have more confidence of your driving skills than that!
Well; it is thinking like that; that has taken the common courtesy away from trucking. Most are leaning to heck with the other guy. I am out here for me.

Great discussion, thanks everyone! Personally I would rather you sit in the seat and drool on yourself rather than blind me with your brights! Thanks again!

Not to sure of the orgin, but as I remember in some forms of auto racing they would flash the lights when passing day or night. Either flash of the high beam or the on/off switch. This would let the driver in front mostly slower traffic know that you are passing. This method could have come from racing or vice versa

I have had drivers turn fog lights off and on during the day. it is noticeable and not blinding if they are properly adjusted. Some cars have that flash to pass feature, it's not the same, basically it turns on headlights momentarily for cars that have daytime running lights.

As soon as they clear my hood they swerve in front of me without a turn signal.
Make sure that those lights are fluted and tinted though, even with the things pointed at the dirt they can blind on a wet road...

Can't always turn off the headlights in Canada - some are always on. If you're blinded by a 0.5 second high beam flash IN THE DAYTIME, you're very sensitive to light. How do you see when the sun's in your face????

Why flash? To be nice, to "talk", as a courtesy.

No, we don't need HELP, it's just "trucking talk" and I, for one, like it very much.

If someone passes me and signals for a lane change into my lane, is clear of my safe-zone and appears to be waiting for a response from me, I will flash them over -- big truck or four wheeler, doesn't matter. If they signal and pull in front of me without having cleared my safe-zone first, I will not. The former is not mere courtesy, but is meant to let the other driver know that I am aware of them and their intentions, and that I'm prepared for them to make the lane change. The latter is not discourtesy, but is meant to show that I am NOT prepared for them to make the lane change at that time.

When I pass another vehicle, truck or four-wheeler, I will watch my mirrors and signal my intentions. If I am not flashed over, I will wait. If I know for certain that I'm clear and am still not flashed over, I will start my lane change but be prepared to abort it if necessary.

We all have to watch out for each other out there. Drive to protect.

scotty has a spectacular aura aboutscotty has a spectacular aura about
Angry Were's the Fog?

I realy get Mad seeing a Driver at night comming in my direction or passing me on a clear night with there fog lights on. And there may not be any fog for hundres of miles.
I have them on my rig and only use them in heavy fog. If a driver can't see the road with there headlights low or high beam then they should not be on the road in the first place.
Come on Drivers, use your common sense.
