A few weeks ago I had a full 53' of windows to deliver. I am waiting for another truck to pull out of their door for me to back in. A straight truck pulls in ahead of me, and I figure, what the heck, I have a full trailer, he may as well go ahead. So he finishes, and pulls his truck ahead a few feet, right into the path I need to set myself up to back in, he jumps out, locks his truck and disappears for 10 minutes. I was LIVID.

I'm certainly not innocent of using a fuel island as a temporary parking spot, but I've encountered the exact same scenario you just mentioned monkey boy. It peeves me off to no end. I get especially ticked off if it's in the middle of the day and there are TONS of parking spots that aren't that far away from the fuel islands. If I know a truck stop usually has crowded fuel islands, I'll shy away from parking on them even if it's just to run in and go 10-100.

Exactly. Broad daylight and a swift driver could have blindsided into any spot there and not hit anyone.

Music fools

Hey notarps, this a recurring problem that will not go away, if you take notice, it is worse at some places then at others. Maybe they should put in a local impound lot and tow those trucks away? drive55cat

I hear drivers paged a lot to pull away from the island so someone can get out. Seems like it is getting worse all the time. A fellow would have time to run in and grab something, but I think some of these guys get their fuel, use the restroom and go over to the fast food establishment wait in line and order their food.

They should park if they are going in to stay awhile. There will be plenty of parking spaces during the day but some drivers are too lazy, so they will park on the fuel island. The problem with this is there are drivers waiting to fuel and go.

Music fuel park

If it happens to you more then once, you should get fuel some other place, a lot of these truckstops have a security gaurd that watches the fuel islands, but not all of them enforce the posted signage. I just stop going into those that do not care. No matter who you drive for, when you fuel up, it is a consierable chunk of change. There is a lot you cannot do about trucking but you can sometimes do a little. Just like truck unfriendly states, I spend no more money or time in them then I must. drive55cat
