Inconsiderate truckers

There are some real winners out here. I was on 85 heading south in SC. 3 lanes and I was in the far right. Nothing in the 2 left lanes for a good ways behind me. I saw a broke down 4 wheeler sitting on the line not off the shoulder. I put my turn on and went over a lane. The truck behind me saw me merge over and saw the car sitting on the line. Does he follow suit and follow me over? No he drops the hammer and trys to pass me on the right blowing the doors off the car. I said to heck with this and dropped the hammer and stayed ahead of him then signaled and came back over. Then I decided to back out of it and let him move to the left and pass me. Stupid fool had no thought at all for that little car that was broke down. It is jerks like this that make 4 wheelers want to hate us.

I agree, I see more disrespect out there all the time. Its amazing how people can't seem to follow common courtesy any more. Here, they won't even move over for the fire trucks and ambulances any more. I'm not just talking trucks, but the 4 wheelers are just as bad if not worse.

Went on an accident call about 4 hours ago. Everyone was in a hurry. We had the road blocked by THE BIG RED TRUCK. You should have seen the 4 wheeler's pulling out to try and pass the extremely long line.

We have a scott's law. Real slow or move over from accident scene and emergency workers. People would go by and gun the engine and take off right next to a bunch of people. Couple of us about got hit tonight. Why the big hurry. I am a volunteer, I am not paid.

You kind of expect 4 wheelers to do stupid things, but when the big trucks do crap like this it just burns me.

Its got to be scary for you guys. I can't even imagine.

I don't know whats wrong with people now days, but I do know that many of my kids friends don't really know to move over, drive slow, etc. It drives me crazy, because I painstakingly took the time to teach each of my boys the responsible way to drive. But I know that a lot of parents fill out the hours requirements forms and fudge the training hours, let them get their license and send them off in their own car.

I was not comfortable with that. So I let them "chauffeur" me around everywhere for a whole year, while they had their permit. At least when they got their licenses, I knew that I could trust THEM behind the wheel.

Going east on I-24 two years ago when there was alot of construction. The signs all said left lanes end xx miles ahead. The majority of the vehicles in the lane to be lost were what I refer to as super truckers. They were blowing by everyone and then forcing their way over.

Also happens almost daily on the tollway around Chicago where 294, 290, 88 all merge and you are trying to get on 290. Trucks that are local are the worst. They do it again at the 90 interchange.

It basically comes down to no surprise from any vehicle.

Several years ago, I was almost struck by a car hauler on an accident scene. I yelled to close the road now. The cop told me I can't do it. I told him close it now or I will. He wouldn't so I parked my car across the road. The state police were looking for me later, but refused to do anything about it. After a state officer was struck a few weeks later, the law was enacted.

It is good to see someone take the time and make the effort with their children. They need to have alot of help since they unfortunately make up a number of the accident calls.

I agree, I made my two take drivers ed as well as me teaching them. Just in case I forgot something while I was teaching them, hopefully the instructor would cover it. AND I wanted them to see the videos that they show of the wrecks that happen when you are not paying attention. Heck, I see kids texting and driving at the same time, here. And we have laws about anyone under 18 using a cell and driving.
