Unhappy Keep your eyes on the road!

This video is of a truck accident in Croatia. The truck driver never even hit his brakes.

Re: Keep your eyes on the road!

Man...do I feel for the families of those that died. That was truly a bad one, and it is rare to catch something like that on video.

Tunnels scare the crap out of me, and I have had fleeting thoughts of such a disaster when I have been stopped in one.

There was a deadly wreck on I-40 in North Carolina, a few months ago, that I witnessed up close and personal. This was just west of a tunnel, and as traffic started backing up towards the exit side of the tunnel, I heard drivers trying desperately to warn those approaching the tunnel of that fact, and sure enough there was a crash. It was not a bad one thank goodness, but it did take care of the front end of a truck that did hit the rear of another.

Re: Keep your eyes on the road!

Some additional information I found on another website. The police estimated the trucks speed at 100 km/h. The speed limit in the tunnel was 60 km/h. The police are unsure the exact speed because the driver had disabled the required tachograph inside the truck.

I don't put anything past a Swift driver.

And people, don't be staring down at the girl in the car next to you while you're driving on the Interstate.

Re: Keep your eyes on the road!

Disturbing. Made me squirm. Unfortunately, people sometimes think that whatever their doing other than driving in their truck, is more important than the lives of those sharing the road.

Unhappy Re: Keep your eyes on the road!

That video is shocking. Those are the people you don't want in a truck. The remark about the swift driver made me chuckle a little though. Not to make light of this serious crash, but I was kinda feelin like swift drivers have a bad rap. But, just the other day, I was at this shipper, and the docks were a NIGHTMARE. Low and behold. who rips his door off in the dock? I'll give you one guess.... Hint: Sure Wish I Finished Training. How ironic. In closing I would like to say I hope no truck driver ever crashes into my family like that dude in the tunnel, that is just WRONG. What was he looking at? I bet he was an experienced driver with lots of time otr, but I'll never know for sure. Lots of experienced guys tailgate and get ROADRAGE, like they lost sight of the fundamentals.

Re: Keep your eyes on the road!

I Live here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, home of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Having crossed the bridge tunnel several times in my life I don't usually worry too much about tunnels. That video may make me look at crossings differently from now on. What did that driver have on his mind before the accident?
