Hello every one...I just recently graduated from CDL school on Ohio and I am now back home in Georgia to take my CDL skills test, but I am running into an issue of not being able to find a rig in which to test in. I have tried the rental agencies but they are NO longer renting out to individual drivers, especially a grad with a permit. I also checked with the CDL schools here in Georgia that are sanctioned by the GA DDS but they want you to go through their school before they test you or grant you use of their equipment. I don't know what else to do at this point...I have tried locating owner operators but honestly I don't know how to go about it. If any one have any recommendations, PLEASE feel free to post them. I have a "pre-hire" with Covenant with an Orientation of February 9th so time is running out big time for me. Thanks in advance.

i am probably missing something having never attended a driving school and getting grandfathered in,but why can't covenant provide the truck? why didn't you get the cdl skills test done at whatever driving school you attended? having a pre-hire at covenant should be all that you need to get that which you need.talk to to them and call everyone listed at their website.

I wasn't able to transfer my Ga. CDL permit to Ohio because Ohio wanted my Birth Certificate as well as other documentation (license, SS card, DD214) which I didn't have (and still don't have) due to a fire a few weeks earlier. The school helped every way they could but Ohio BMV didn't want to hear it. The school informed me that Ohio's CDL skill test was the same as Georgia's so they were able to keep teaching me. I have talked to my recruiter at Covenant and asked if they had any drivers in my area that could help but she flat out told me that it wasn't their problem. I will call them again and see if I can get some one different.

You're probably going to have to find a small Georgia based company and tell them if they will take you to the DMV then you will work for them afterwards. Forget about Covenant; they're not based in Georgia. Have you received the replacement Social Security Card and Birth Certificate yet? I don't know of any company that will hire you without those documents.
