    Hey everybody. Newbie here.

To make a long story even longer, I'm 23 years old. My dad has driven truck for the last 30 years. It's something he knew he always wanted to do. Well, like all dads, they want their kids to be better off than they are. So for the past 5 years, I've been going to school for a mechanical engineering degree. I've worked for one of biggest tier 1 automotive suppliers for the past 3 years. I'm still about 3 years shy of my degree. I hate it. I hate being a desk jockey.

Anyway, that is going to change here soon. One thing I know I truly enjoy doing is driving. I want to make a career of OTR driving for the next 5 years, then look for something local where I will be able to settle down and start a family.

In the next month or so, I will be starting a truck driving school. 3 week program. I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park.

I have a little experience. I rode with a buddy for a week. Went from Detroit to Chicago, back up to northern Michigan, then down to New York, then Bradford PA, then back to Detroit. I drove maybe 500 miles of that journey. Kenworth W900 18spd pulling a 53' covered wagon. It was the best experience I think I've ever had. I can't wait to make it a career.

So there ya go. There's a little bit about myself. I hope to gain lots of information and knowledge from more experienced truckers on this forum.

    Safe travels everybody!
