Stay at home Mommy Missing her newly trucking Daddy

Hello, I am new here. I am a 24 year old stay at home mother of three boys. They are 5,2,and 6 months. My husband got his cdl in feb. and left for his orientation on March 7th for CR England. It's kinda scary after reading the posts on here, but it was the only place to say yes. He had no experience and the year prior off work to to a workman comp injury. Thats actully why he got his cdl, he was always in construction till he had a neck injury, and two operations, he was told he could no longer do the same kind of work.
I joined mainly to talk to people in the same position. Mabey try to understand it all alittle more. This is so not like me and my husband we have been together since we were 15 and 16 and have never been apart. It's all so new and stress full. Even my children a really affected by it. It would be nice to have another adult to talk to the understands what i am going thru.

Welcome to the forum. Once he meets his obligations with England, he should be able to find something locally. I have been hauling beverage for 22 year, and home every night. Pay is blue collar level, but the benifit package is more than worth it.

I realize it is hard to be alone after so much time together. I'm sure, never a mile goes by that he doesn't think of you and the kids. All the things a driver has to deal with, really makes it a job. I wish you the best, and hope he has found something he likes, and a pay you can live with.

Company's like Coke, Pepsi, 7UP, lumber yards, fuel delivery, are always looking for local drivers. Coke & Pepsi have the best benifits for the family. Could be something to think about.

You'll do great! And when the going gets tough we'll be here! And when things are going great we want to hear about that too!

My husband wa a driver before we met, so for us it was all about ME learning the lifestyle, now I am actually helping him out, and it feels great! You guys get to grow and lean together!

Best of luck to you both!

Welcome to the forum. I know this is a big change for your family. but being an O/O for 20 years,it never gets easy to leave home. Our kids are 20,16,and 6. My wife is also a stay at home mom and I am blessed to have a supportive wife and kids. I admire a man who will do what it takes to keep his family taken care of. Yes u will miss him but remember your at home and I know he wishes he was to. So to make his life on the road bareable encourage and lift him up as much as possible and when he gets home u will reap the benifits. And someday he may be on a forum prasing his wife to a young scared mom of three. My kids r great. Like the old saying, its not how much time u spend with them its the quality, that is so true. I hope this helps.

I was a stay at home mother of 2, age 29 when my hubby took up this profession. And he went to England first... Not the best move, but, once he got away from there, everything else was an improvement! LOL!

It gets better from here. It really does. You find ways to adapt and cope. I had to learn to be NOT so independent! Crazy? Well, kinda. I had to learn I can't always fix the car myself.. (I used to fix them myself with a little help from my hubby to break loose stubborn bolts!) I had to learn to just take it to the shop in order to avoid alot of frustration.

And spmeday, you'll be here saying the same thing I was telling Cybergal this morning: If he ever takes a 9-5 job, I'll just have to murder him...

Look at it this way,it might help-a soldier goes overseas to serve his country,,,,a trucker goes over the road to serve his family,,,just do yourself and him ONE big favor,,,,,Don't make any new male friends!!!!!!

Thats what I keep telling myself and my wife and kids as I prepare to venture out into this industry as well. Think of all the soldiers that leave their families for a year or two even longer to go fight in a war! Surely we can handle a week or three right?!?!??? Plus we can still talk to eachother everyday by cell phone. I already promised my kids I'd call every night at bed time to tuck them in. Also, you know what they say about absence making the heart grow fonder.
