Hello from Jawja

My name is Scott and I have been reading the forum for the past three months and I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing your colorful stories. I am a 20 year Navy Veteran, Vietnam Vet, former professor, and former high school teacher, and I guess when I quit this job I'll be a former truck driver. I live somewhere in Georgia, root for the Dawgs, ride my Hog, and play music (mandolin). I have lived in 14 countries on four continents, and decided to drive a truck in order to see the USA. I begin this new adventure at Central Refrigeration the last week of November in Atlanta. I hope my sense of humor, patience, and work ethic help me through the training phase. I'm not looking forward to being cooped up with another grown man for 8 weeks. Does Central have co-ed trainers? I hope to see some of you on the road (at the truck stop actually) one day. Wish me luck, it sounds like I'm going to need it. Peace, Scott

Hey Scott,
Welcome! I'm one of those wannabes who, like you, has been reading the forum for a month or so. What I've found, as I'm sure you have, is that there are plenty of drivers out there who are willing to give you the benefit of their experience. It's a good feeling to know that when I actually get out there next summer they will still be there to help me through the predicaments that all newbies face. I won't, but I could, tell you right now the profile names of those you can depend on. Good luck to you and keep in touch!
