driving with a trainer

I will be attending truck driver institute in dallas next month. I hope to be hired by Werner, they say I have 4 to 6 weeks of driving with a trainer. I live in Houston, do you get to go home during that time, You hear one thing, but what is the reality

I think with a trainer you can split it up, 3 weeks out 2 days home 3 weeks out....but if you go the full 6 weeks you get more pay. at least that is what the recruiter said when i was attending school
