She calls. PRICE IS OUTRAGEOUS She discusses the situation with her girl friend that evening. He friend (blonde also) offers her own advice and purchasing knowledge.

Lots of alligators in Florida. Alligators supply the raw materials for shoes.
With a plentiful supply, alligator shoes will be much cheaper in Florida.

So, off to Florida. Calls a store there. Amazing... Shoes are the same price. She proceeds to rip the clerk with the local raw material supply, no transportation costs, etc, etc and tells her its a rip off.

Clerk advises her if local raw material supply is the key, then the thing for her to do is hit the sawgrass where they are and just capture her some shoes.

This is good, cheap and quick. She'll grab a gator and be back in New York on the early morning flight.

Into the sawgrass and grabs a gator. Inspects it closely. Nope, wont do.
Grabs another... Inspects and rejects it too.
After four of five like this she wails:

"None of these alligators are wearing shoes."
