How these idiots ever got to be "upper management" is just beyond me. When we peons make a suggestion they just look at us like they would look at a child and then do it their way, which ultimately fails because they don't DO the work - we do. Errgh! When I worked in the corporate environment I quickly discovered the things that don't get you promoted to upper management. Not in any particular order they are...common sense, company loyalty, work ethic, attention to detail, ability to think on your feet, ability to adapt and overcome obstacles, finding ways to save the company money.
On the other hand the things that I observed that got several people promoted were the ability to kiss the behind of the rung above you, a college degree, the ability to suggest ideas that cost the company more money and in one case a several million dollar software upgrade actually reduced productivity in the department it was designed for by 50%. They got a pat on the back for that! Also, questionable people skills to name just a few.
It was a billion dollar corporation the CEO had a salary of well over $100 million per year plus perks and the stock has done nada/zip in the 5 years since he took over. I was never so happy as when I left that place for a better position with a small company.
