when pin 29 is grounded - engine stops
aron12 Thanks this. -
yes that is my understanding, wire 583 must be shorted or broke somewhere between firewall and ecm . if i knew the correct voltage supply to pin 29 i would try to manually power it to test .
-
no, but I think - they 10-12 ore 5 v
-
i have 12 from dash cluster to firewall . will have to trace from firewall to ecm . i do have a sensor control that i cant find in my book. it looks somewhat like the dcm. but says sensor control?? i will take a closer look, but it flashes a #4 code. placement is directly behind my coolant tank. # 4 code open pressure sensor or bad connection. ive checked the pressure sensors and they look fine.
-
with code 4 engine starts with power derate.
but if pressure sensor ore gas pedal TPS is short and no 5v to supply sensors - engine wont starting -
Inside ECM there is separate power supply for sensors.
All 5v sensors are supplied throught resistors to avoid internal ECM damage if 5v sensor power supply is short becouse of poor wiring ore bad sensor.
The problem is that if TPS ore MAP are short inside - no 5v. And engine cant run w/o 5v sensor supply.
To check what sensors are ok, what no u need VCADs pro.
It is easy to download old cracked version from pirate sites, but... This is too old engine and you need very old 555 adapter.
Volvo sells only 020. It is expencive/

This is chenese copy of 555. it is direct rs232 translator.
On old volvos they used datalink, it is phisically the same like j1587, but with limited protocol, becouse this engine was introduced in 1993, before J1587/J1708 were required by law.
Do u have 6 pin connector? can you post photo of diagnostic connector of your truck?CellNet Thanks this. -
ye I believe so, ill be heading over there shortly and will let you know for sure.
-
to be sure, separate EA connector and turn ignition on, and check MAP power supply voltage directly on ECM pin EA 25.
If no power supply - remove terminal EB 34 and try againe -
Double checking power to ecm pins , power on pin 2 is 12 volts , power on pin 3 is 6volts power on pin 6 is 12volts . No power to 11 or 12 . Double checking now
