Were any of the drivers Americans? Doesn't seem to be many of them left in California.

Seen a T/T that looked like it should be impounded crashed at the very top of the NB runaway ramp on I5 there. He was standing outside the truck wearing a turban

Or even better, why did 5 trucks burn when all they did is bump and grind? You know the Govt probably suppresses all references to anything related to additives for emissions.

Lepton1, STexan and PacoTaco Thank this.

Was wondering the same thing X1. These days, you bump a mirror and the truck burns to the ground.

    doesnt make sense.

Lebec is a gradual up grade so it seems someone must of changed a lane into an occupied lane. The next exit is the truck stop which is 1/3 the way up the last real climb before the great race into L.A.

Grapevine exit is the very beginning of the 6% climb. There is an on ramp there. This area is usually a drag race as people try to get into position ahead of the heavier trucks.

General rule there is, the guy with the 75,000 lb load will try to pass the guy with the 78,000 load and plug everything up.

At least that was my experience running freight there in the 70s thru 90 s.

Southbound at the Lebec exit would be going up the hill, not down. There is no Grapevine exit. The Lebec exit is just after the steepest part of the hill, one exit before the Flying J. Notice it says traffic was backed up all the way to Arvin which is down in the valley just east of Bakersfield.
