Collision repairs should not be part of the maintenance program, they are not normal everyday wear and tear but rather the result of an accident. If I were the carrier and paid the repairs out of my pocket to keep the truck running I would expect to be reimbursed for the damage when the insurance company finally paid up, so yes, it is their money not yours. No different than if you were renting a truck from Ryder, had a wreck and they fixed it so it could go back out on rental. You pay Ryder xx cents per mile for maintenance, but that is just it maintenance not collision repairs.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

That makes sense, but why have my name on the insurance at all ? Why not just send the check directly to the carrier?

If it is your policy they have to list your name so that you as their insured can be sure the money goes where it should go since legally you are the one liable for the claim they paid.
